My card should arrive soon and I want to make sure I have the latest version. Which patch should I use? The readme file you download with the patch is a little confusing.

Assuming the method is the same as other carts of that type, the main difference is that the DSi one does not offer to let you cart swap (since cart swapping does not work on the DSi or 3DS) which could normally be done to apply the update to a different cart, for example to fix a bricked cart or update a different cart for some reason. The DSL version does offer to let you cart swap since that works on the DS/Lite.

I'm new to DSs. What is cart swapping? Sorry.

When you take one cart out and put another one in.

For example if you had two R4i Golds, and one was "bricked" (broken, "as useful as a brick") by a failed update (for example turning the power off in the middle of the update)... you could start the update file on the working cart, and then when it tells you to press A to start the update, take the working cart out, put the broken cart in, and then press A, and the update will be applied to the broken cart, fixing it.

However the DSi and 3DS won't let you cart-swap (as they will not initialize a second cart in the middle of a "game"), which is why there's two update files.

Ahh I see, thanks for that. Then I suppose I should stick to NDSL?
