Hey. New user here. I'm not sure if this is the best place to post, but I figured it'd be better than making a new thread.

I have a question for anyone who has ordered the GB Transferer II from hkems: What would be the best shipping option? I sent them an e-mail asking for an estimate, and they gave me 2 options; UPS Express, which was $37, or air mail, which was $10 (this is separate from the price of the device itself). Is air mail too unreliable to be worth the $27 saved? Is there some other shipping option I should ask about?

If UPS Express is the way to go, what about ordering from djtransformer.com instead? If their shipping estimate is accurate, it'd be ~$10 cheaper than hkems + UPS...

So, I was searching around... And it seems like it would be better to buy a "SmartBoy Development System"... What are some sites that stock this product?

Have you found anything yet? I've noticed that at http://www.smartboycart.com/ they have recently posted about a new version smart boy burner, I don't know if that's any help at all.

I'm looking for something to dump gb/gbc saves, and if I can't find anything better, I think I'll order the transferer from djtransformer.

I'm planning to buy the Transferer from HKEMS... It's cheaper there..

So will GB Transferer II backup to my PC my pokemon saves with no extra hardware? Will I be able to play them with VBA-M? Is it reliable to order it from hkems by airmail?

Thanks.

The GB Transferrer II should be able to back up both GB and GBA games (it uses the LPT parallel port, make sure you have access to a computer that supports this). There is a switch that will set it into GB or GBA mode, make sure it is in the right position. Aside from that, use the supplied USB cable as it delivers a very specific voltage to the Transferrer. The flashing/reading software can be downloaded online if you do not have access to the CD ROM or if it is not shipped with the transferrer.

Also, don't ever buy from DJ Transformer. He is basically inactive and has been for over a year, yet people keep handing him money for orders. It's been made quite clear he has no intentions of completing these orders in a timely fashion, so don't even try to buy supplies from him.

SOURCE: I help design hardware for a Gameboy supply shop online and I own a GB Transferrer II.

sorry for the necro, but I thought it would be a good idea to get this out now, don't by from DJTransformer. The guy is notorious in the chipmusic scene for being hella unreliable, I seem to be the only person who's ever bought from him, who hasn't had any problems. He's been unreliable since around 2011, if not earlier (original complaint thread was on a different forum that's now down for good) and he's said recently that he's thinking of closing up shop entirely.

Never ordered from HKEMS, if I need EMS carts, I go to kitsch, but it would be a way better idea to buy it through their site, rather than a third part vendor, especially one with a reputation like his.

Also, it's probably going to be your cheapest option to get a transferer II than anything else. I mean if you've got a 64mb EMS, or similer (usb bleepbloop, drag 'n' derp etc) flash cart that you can connect to your PC through usb or whatever, then you might want to get a mega memory card. Use it to transfer data from [insert game here] to the mega memory cart, then from the cart to [insert usb flashcart here]

sorry to necro bump but I was thinking of getting some gb carts fitted with flash and writing hackroms (of games I already own) to them and EMS Transferer 2 seems to be the only gb cart writer available. does anyone know if it can be used to write to homemade flash carts? All of the ROMs I want to write need an MBC3 chip and some use RTC so a commercial flash cart isn't ideal.
I found an outdated webpage saying that an earlier GB transferer device doesn't work with homemade flash carts

i dont know why tv manufactures put the hdmi ports in dumb locations so the cables have to stick out, and then down, putting strain on the ports. Instead of having the ports along the bottom edge of the tv facing downwards.
