Wow I'm impressed with the R4i Gold 3DS team, they released their patch yesterday meaning they're the first team to fix it

Although the patch only works with 3DS carts while non-3DS carts will have to wait for the team to release a different patch to fix it.

This R4I GOLD 3DS patch does not work for all R4i Gold 3DS cards although they are indeed shown with game icon below and they are R4i Gold with green 3DS marking. Please do not have DSi system updated before getting your R4i Gold 3DS firmware updated for 1.44.

you just echoed what I said. I think if you read my statement you would know that I mentioned the part where the non 3DS carts will have to wait for a different patch.

my two cards patched and they where spongebob
now prince caspian

theres the 2 files but i think this is what confuses people

the DSL file is for bricked cards
the DSi file is for non bricked

i tryed to run the DSL file on a DS phat and got FAIL
use the DSi file on a DS Phat and VOILA it passed and updated them both

Below are what i tested for those failed in updating.
Install both R4iGold3DS_V144_Patch_NDSL.nds and R4iGold3DS_V144_Patch_NDSi.nds into memory card, run R4iGold3DS_V144_Patch_NDSi.nds on 3DS console and get one R4i Gold 3DS updated successfully, then run R4iGold3DS_V144_Patch_NDSL.nds on a DS Lite and get another R4i Gold 3DS updated successfully. Both game incons changed from spongebob to prince caspian, and can work on DSi 1.4.4J.

That does mean the patch and memory card work fine for those two R4i Gold 3DS. Then i find those failed in updating, get them tested afterwards.
After loading into Wood interface, run R4iGold3DS_V144_Patch_NDSi.nds on both 3DS and DS Lite to update -> Fail
Run R4iGold3DS_V144_Patch_NDSL.nds on both 3DS and DS lite to update - > Fail

And I open both the cards updated successfully and the failed one, found no difference from their chips.

Realy confused about this problem...

you are not meant to run both the updates

only the DSi one if the cart is working
DSL if corrupted

the DSL update is to be booted on a working cart then switch to the broken cart without a SD card in it

what revisions are you carts
there should be a number visible on the bottom right (on the pic above you can see the number zero above the last pin)
mine are both Rev 8

Probably should have added *now*. Now if they'd release a new version to support 1.4.4, quite a few people would be happier (especially if they updated for some reason)..

www.acekard.com is working fine, it's just one of those pesky website that doesn't load if you don't put "www." in the URL.

Also, r4ids.cn has updated with a fix for 1.4.4, you know the good R4i Gold that uses Wood firmware.

Yes, I tried to run R4iGold3DS_V144_Patch_NDSi.nds on both 3DS and DS Lite respectively to update, unfortunately it does not work and failed to update.

Mine are rev c

The only fix will be an update file on the website for your card, if no update file then you either wait to see if 1 will be released or purchase another flashcart

There is this new update for the card that released in 1.4.2012 but that didn't work. I hope they'll release a new update soon. I've mailed the R4i guys so if I get a response I'll also post it here for other people like me to see.

use an old DS phat or DS lite, it's firmware wont block the card. You'll be able to load it and update it. Then it should work in your DSi+DSi XL/LL with firmware version 1.4.4

but you also need your card's software developers to release that update to install.
