Why does Nintendo complain about poor sales when, for games "Super Mario 3D land" which i own and think is short with like 4hrs of gameplay. Has sold 5million copies since its recent release compared to the top selling PSP game which has sold only 4million copies??? Am i getting my stats wrong or is this just how nintendo rolls?

It's how they roll. They got used to Pokemon-scale sales.

By the way, they're complaining? Officially? Link please?
They haven't been in a while. This was just concerning the poor 3DS launch figures. And they never complained, they were just embarrassed and disappointed. Remember when Iwata took a paycut?

Simple answer: greed.
Please, tell me the main goal of having a sales company? Donations? To pleasure people??

Its to make money, not greed. Money is Power.
Lol no. The drive to earn alot of money is normal for any company but if Nintendo wasn't greedy then they would be happy with the sales of their games and not give a shit about making all that region lock and anti-piracy nonsense but they aren't they want more and more and even if they earn 100 million in a year they want it more even if thats enough to survive for the next few years (not actual earnings just an example).

I remember, yeah. I just didn't classify that as complaining either.

It's a business, they make games and consoles for a living, naturally they want profits. It's hardly classified as greed as Just suggested.

Wow not officially, just concerning the 3DS price cut etc... I was just wondering because with the sales Nintendo gets most companies would show a positive attitude so as to lure more game developers to the platform, Nintendo seems to be going in the opposite direction and it confuses me.

If your "peepee" was as small as there's, you would complain about everything too. Haven't you seen Chinpoko Mon from South Park. Those guy's remind me of the people that work for Nintendo.

Where have you been living?
It's not Nintendo that gives us the shit end, it's gaming in general.
Oh and most of us make more money than the Americans that aren't filthy rich.

It's kinda like Europe, however Nintendo at least has been really supportive with Europe this last year, and most games on the 3DS being localised here is pretty good already.
And from what I've been reading from Australians, it's not just Nintendo that has 'problems' so to say in Australia, but the others as well.

I kinda meant for me since I used to be a nintendo fanboy until things started to get so bloody boring and yea your right gaming in general treats us like shit.
Not gonna argue that dude, I import alot of my stuff now since its so much cheaper buying from the US.

Didn't your country's judicial system declare modchips and flashcarts to be legal several years ago? Don't get me wrong, I agree with that ... but from the gaming industry's perspective, there's not much incentive for them to put your market in the front of the line when the goodies are passed out.

edit: oh and I still haven't seen OP back up his claim that Nintendo is complaining about poor sales.

I'm blaming the companies more than the government but if you want a list then retailers and the general social idea of gaming is on that as well but whatever. The main reason i'm angry and blaming nintendo is because of the region lock.

They did? Since when did they declare that?
I'm not gonna go into the whole "piracy vs profits" thing since it'll derail the thread even more but i'm 1 person and there are alot of people here that is willing to pay for stuff. Its just its hard since everything here is over priced which makes people either pirate or import. I do both but i'm just saying.

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.

I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way
