I thought I might make a thread to list and talk about the new games the PSP is getting in 2012 even if majority of them is Japan only I still think even to now the PSP is still going strong although just in the east but it never hurts to play games in Japanese. So far I got news that these will be released this year in for the PSP to get the discussion going.

it never hurts to play games in Japanese.

Yes it does. It really does hurt.
Not for some. Personally most of my PSP games are in Japanese.
  • Queen's Blade
  • Queen's Gate
  • Weib Schwarz
  • Nendoroid Generations
  • Grand Knights History
  • Black Rock Shooter the game

I like understanding what the fuck is happening.
Well after starting to learn Japanese this year I seem to have little to no trouble.

That aside the PSP is still getting alot of great games this year :yaypsp: oh and I forgot fate/extra CCC. I'll add it now.

Also nobody cares about japanese only releases.
I doubt anyone cares to wait 2+ years for a game that might get translated but got delayed and eventually never translated plus the PSP survived with its Japan only exclusives, the DS this year is pretty much the same since the 3DS and Vita have already been released.

If it doesn't release in America/Europe then I won't play them, simple as that.

I haven't even played the Type-0 demo because I can wait.
I'm pretty sure that Persona 2 will be translated, I mean all of them so far has been translated so why not P2-batsu. Still i'll be getting the Japanese version first and i'll get the undub if it does get made after its translated and I was thinking about getting type-0 but somehow I felt it wasn't for me.

Was the PSP ever "going strong"? Seems like it's always been one of the less popular systems...

There's was a whopping total of two handheld gaming devices during their lifetime. That immense number has now DOUBLED to four in this gen.
Less popular =/= not doing well

The 360 and PS3 bombed if we want to directly compare their success to the Wii.

The PSP was a success otherwise Sony would've pulled out of the handheld market this gen and it was and still is going strong now although just in the eastern market since almost all new PSP releases are just in Japan this year but it doesn't mean they won't continue to translate them but chances of that is low.

The PSP is my go-to handheld. Loaded with stuff to do and play and I didn't even have to spend any money on a flash cart. Might be true that It is not as popular as the other systems out there but then again I was never the popular guy either so It fits me best.

Well, if it's less popular then less developers will want to make games for it. Then again, maybe that just filters out all of the bad games. The PSP does have some good games like Birth by Sleep and Crisis Core.

I find it slightly for a lack of a better word concerning that the only 2 games you listed as good are from Square Enix but sure no problem.

I haven't been gaming for such a long time. Been mostly busy with sleep, hardware tinkering and checking GBAtemp frequently.

Hope you've had a good morning.

It's going alright thanks :) I know what you mean with gaming time. It's precious where I can get it these days.

I think that's why I focus on just enjoying single player experiences that aren't too competitive

    How are you doing?

There's also this thing where I'm hyperfocused at night and cannot get to sleep.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
    @Maximumbeans, I'm doing alright, thanks.

That must be rough. Productive I'm sure but hard to balance with daily life

@Maximumbeans, Indeed. I've been working on getting this Infecutus chip to work on my PS2. But after soldering, I realised that a plastic piece was missing from the power ribbon cable to the power and eject buttons.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Now I could go with soldering the contacts from the cable to the connector on the mobo, but doesn't sound like a good permanent solution.
  • Maximumbeans @ Maximumbeans:
Man, that's beyond my brain  I'm no good with hardware for now. I'd like to get into hardmods in future though
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Maximumbeans, Maybe start practice soldering. Get a cheap-ass soldering iron and follow some good YouTube tutorials.

  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Least my experience has gotten better than over a decade ago. My iron would constantly bump into components and break them.
  • Maximumbeans @ Maximumbeans:
Sounds good. I actually did soldering but like 16 years ago for school so uuuuh probably rusty haha
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Maximumbeans, Same here. I did soldering at school from a teacher who I honestly liked since he had plenty of good electronics experience.

It was like all clear and fancy. Tbf I'm not too experienced with chess, but would like to learn someday.
