To answer your second question, no. WBFS as a file system is now obsolete. Now you can just put .wbfs format games on a NTFS/fat/32 drive in a folder called wbfs and they work the same. (compressed)

edit: using a wii backup manager. It just converts .iso files into .wbfs

Most backup loaders should support SD loading though you may have to edit a configuration file.

I'm pretty sure neogamma has an sd card loader. I use CFG myself so I don't know for sure. A quick google search tells me that it's possible "with most usb loaders and neogamma".

Nope. I'm going to try that out later on though. I'll get back here when I have the results.

I use CFG and it works fine...well, at least a couple of my friends SD load .wbfs games from a wbfs folder on CFG.

Last I knew, Neogamma required a WBFS partition on the SD card to be able to load Wii games from.

Neogamma works only with WBFS partition.
USBLoaderGX doesn't support loading .wbfs games from SD.

Other Loaders should support FAT32 SD card for .wbfs files.
I never tried SD loading, so I don't know which option you have to change, but I guess in cfg, you set it in the configurator or there's an option to specify which device you want to list (USB or SD).
Take a look at all the settings.

yes, the CFG config file has an option what to read from - SD, USB or AUTO. I believe AUTO is the default setting.

Assuming that's a full 4.4 GB image: FAT32 doesn't support files larger than 4GB-1 bytes.

That is true. Wii Backup Manager will separate it into two files, which will be recognized by your USB loader as a whole file on a FAT32 drive, making it possible to play games larger than 4GB.
