With extra buttons on the ps1 or n64 for that matter, where do you think the extra buttons L2 and R2 ps1 buttons or the C n64 buttons will be mapped without the addon? Now the second analoge can go to the touch screen but extra buttons to touch screen too?

The same way PS1 worked on the PSP? The slide pad would work as L and R buttons (L2 and R2 or L1 and R1)
But yes, the touch screen can also be used I guess.

Keep in mind that PS1 emulation is still a FAR way off right now...

The ps1 doesn't have a control stick, right? Ugh, d pad. It's so hard to use when it's below the circle pad. Anyway, can't you just tilt the 3DS? I suppose that would be innovative...

What would prevent us from using the Circle pad as a D-Pad?

Why are you worrying about the far future? 3DS hasn't been hacked yet, what's the use of figuring out this?

This, in addition to the fact that nearly every emulator lets you map buttons as you wish. So IF we ever see PS1 emulation on the 3DS, not when, any control method you';d like would probably be possible, except perhaps tilt controls.

You don't have to worry because I guarantee this will never happen. And for what it's worth the second stick was useless in 99% of PS1 games

And how exactly can you guarantee this?
By saying that most games which supported the Dual Shock controllers with analog sticks could also be controlled by means of the D-Pad since the base hardware was released without analog sticks at all. Control schemes were actually created for the D-Pad - the analog sticks either emulated the D-Pad input or had separate control schemes that only kicked in if the Dual Shock controller was detected.

Maybe I'm a bit slow today, but what you said seems to be completely unrelated to what I asked.

Second stick is useless in 99% of games ---> Actually, most games don't even require the two sticks as they work perfectly fine without them. ---> Automatically true.

Back then the sticks were added to facilitate gaming, they weren't meant to be an integral part of gameplay.

Haha...Foxi, the point of Kemosabe's post was to have synce prove the fact that the PS1 can't be emulated on the 3DS. You're going off on something completely different...heh.

I was focused on the part of his post that was *true*.

Saying that the PS1 can't be emulated on the 3DS is like saying that the sun actually doesn't shine. Fer fack sake, I have a PSOne emulator on my 512Mhz smartphone from 2002 if I recall correctly that has 1 joypad, 5 face buttons and 2 shoulder buttons. Works great btw.

If I can manage emulation without ANY analog sticks and while being 2 shoulder buttons short then the 3DS will manage just fine. By the way, CirclepadPro? Hello?
