Hoping to gain more third party support, Nintendo confirms third parties have begun working on Wii U games.

Third party developers have received final Wii U development kits, Nintendo confirmed to Industry Gamers at CES.
Since the system was first unveiled at E3 2011, Nintendo has promised that the Wii U will receive more third party support thanks to its controller and approach towards gaming. Some of the confirmed developers as of now include Team Ninja, Electronic Arts, Namco Bandai, Sega, Ubisoft, THQ, Codemasters and many more.

While Nintendo has repeatedly stated that the hardware could change after last E3, it has resisted confirming any specific changes or improvements. The system will be re-unveiled at E3 2012.

Am I the only one who thinks that the case design is too... I don't know... rounded?

The curves really remind me of the XBox 360, of which the case I didn't particularily like either. Or the PSOne case. I prefere sharp edges, like on the Wii, PS2 and 360 Slim... But it'll do as long as it won't turn out to be a disappointment.

I think the case looks quite nice.

I have always loved the concept, but now, we have better technology, and it looks like a waste... It looks a little like the generic brand of the wii...

Seriously, go to the local general store, buy the motion gaming console, and I bet the Specs are better than the wii's. Here's how the gaming industry works:
Nintendo sets the bar, usually with mobile gaming or some sort of new technology.
Microsoft copies this, improves it, removes bulk, and put it on the market before it is perfected.
Sony Combines the two, jacks up the price, releases a remade console for even more, and then offer free online, so they don't lose ALL of their fans.

Huzzah. I'll look forward to third party entries. Y'know, so long as they don't end up being trash titles.

I will be interested to see what Sega can do with a Sonic game on the console. I loved the hell out of Colors, liked parts of Unleashed, and Generations gets my stamp of approval. If they keep trending like they have, I'll actually look forward to a Sonic game for the first time in years.

The only thing I don't like design wise is the thick border around the screen of the controller.
I would like it to have a more compact/streamlined design although keeping the screen size.

Another thing is the color, I want it to more unique, like the blue 3DS for example, man what I love that finish. :)

I've always thought of Blue being a special color to Nintendo of America. Blue DSi, Blue 3DS, Blue LED on the wii...

The only issue is if they go back to adding more characters, I hope they got over that, Sonic games only Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles and maybe Amy if in the right game as playables.

If the console is being released at the end of the year and they're just now handing out these development kits, than the 3rd party developers have a lot of work ahead of them if they want to get some games out in time for the launch.

least amd 7xxx has tensor cores which the previous generations didn't so there is the potential for AI upscaling
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
They have FSR or whatever it's called and yeah it's still not great
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
so AMD seem to finally be starting to take AI seriously
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Oh yeah those new 8000 CPUs have AI cores built in that's interesting
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Maybe they plan on offloading to the CPU?
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Would be kinda cool to have the CPU and GPU working in random more
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    Tandem even
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
i think i heard of that, it's a good idea, shouldn't need a dedicated GPU just to run a LLM or video upscaling
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
even the nvidia shield tv has AI video upscaling
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
LLMs can be run on cpu anyway but it's quite slow

Have you ever been beaten by a wet spaghetti noodle by your girlfriend because she has a twin sister, and you got confused and fucked her dad?

I had a girlfriend who had a twin sister and they would mess with me constantly.... Until one chipped a tooth then finally I could tell them apart.... Lol
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
They would have the same hair style the same clothes everything... Really messed with my head lol
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
@The Real Jdbye, I could see AMD trying to pull off the CPU GPU tandem thing, would be a way to maybe close the gap a bit with Nvidia. Plus it would kinda put Nvidia at a future disadvantage since Nvidia can't make X86/64 CPUs? Intel and AMD licensing issues... I wonder how much that has held back innovation.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
i don't think nvidia wants to get in the x64 cpu market anyways
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
you've seen how much intel is struggling getting into the gpu market
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
and nvidia is already doing ARM
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
i don't think they want to take more focus away from their gpus
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Yeah I think Nvidia s future lays in AI GPU acceleration stuff if they can get that going it's going to be super interesting in the long term
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
AI assisted game creation might become a thing
