There are TONS of threads spouting "the end of the world" nonsense ad nauseum, so I thought I'd introduce a more positive spin on the year 2012.

This lunar year is the Year of the Dragon. Every year is associated with one of five elements, and this year it happens to be water. So 2012 is the Year of the Water Dragon. According to some, water is the best element because it represents life, purity, flexibility and strength, calmness and power, intelligence and wisdom. It's a lucky year, combining the most powerful Zodiac with the most powerful element. It happens only once every 60 years.

Anyone born in this year supposedly ends up successful in life. I know most of you don't buy into all that astrology stuff (and personally, neither do I), but there is some truth to this claim, particularly among Chinese/Taiwanese/Vietnamese people. It's because Asian children born in the Year of the Dragon are told all their lives by Asian friends and relatives that they're "dragon children" destined for success, so they're subconsciously programmed from childhood to believe it. So the source of their success comes not so much from the power of the Zodiac as it is from the power of the mind. It's a self-fulfilling prophecy.

So if you're in a position to make babies ( :creep: ), by all means get busy! To those of you who celebrate the Lunar New Year (and even to those of you who don't) I hope you have a good one!

Sources

Any child born between 23 January, 2012 and 9 February, 2013 will be a Dragonborn.

As long as you conceive a child by the end of April or the beginning of May, your child will be born by the deadline.

Every 60 years eh? I'll force my son or daughter to have a baby in 2072

Actually, you don't have to wait that long. The Zodiac repeats itself every 12 years, so the next Year of the Dragon will be in 2024. It's just that it'll be another 60 years before the element of water is combined with the dragon again.

Actually, I have a funny story about that.

One of my Japanese friends was born in the Year of the Rooster, and when I asked her what her sign was, she couldn't think of the English word.

She kept saying "Cock? Year of the Cock?"

And I put both hands up and was all like "hey, I just wanted to know when you were born...I had no idea it was this easy!" :creep:

I was born in "The Year Of The Dragon '88 edition"
if I had a child this year, it will restore the balance to the force?
Some friend of a random guy spoke of a prophecy that a father and son who are born of dragon blood will rule the world :ninja:

Eh, I don't really care about this "babies being born in the Year of the Dragon" thing. It doesn't really amaze me :s.

I'm celebrating Lunar New Years myself 'cause I'm Asian and I know it. I think what I love most about Lunar New Years is the red envelopes LOL. Good stuff.

To everyone else...Happy Lunar New Years, whether you celebrate it or not. :P

Dragon children are so mainstream. Many Chinese try to have a baby on a dragon year, it's not even cool anymore.
By the time the Chinese discovered gunpowder, mechanical clocks, advanced astronomy and complex math, Europe was still in the Dark Ages throwing rocks at each other and making engineering blunders like flushing their sewage upstream and getting their drinking water downstream and giving themselves cholera and plagues and shit.

That can only be explained by one thing: the Chinese were producing Dragonborn since the dawn of time.

The Chinese have hidden the secret of Dragonborn from the Westerners for thousands of years :ninja:
