Hacking Help with setting up my R4 Flash Card

I have the R4i Gold V2.0 flash cart. Where do i find the firmware and upgrade to use the flashcard on a R4i/3DS? Also, am I able to use the Goblin Wood Firmware?

I believe that flashcart comes from r4ids.com (just make sure it's the website written on the sticker of your cart). Download the firmware for it here, which would be the Akaio 1.8.6a one. I doubt this will be able to use wood r4, since it seems like it uses a modified akaio firmware.

okay, thanks. Is this the latest firmware for this type of flashcart? Is the site kept up to date?

I think any akaio firmware above 1.8.6a is supposed to brick (or at least not work on them) clones like this, so you won't see anything more than that, unfortunately.

I don't think there is an alternative firmware for it. The most common alternative fw for r4 carts is YSmenu, but I don't see this cart in its compatibility list.

I read on linfox today that a better loader for this card can be downloaded from www.R4iDSN.com. Here is a quote from linFox website "The Gold R4i is yet another R4i clone. Made by the same people as (and practically identical to) the Super R4i.
NOTE: There is an apparently improved loader version for this card in the r4idsn.com category. Consider trying it instead."

It didn't work. Goblin Wood fw only works with certain R4 cards. Mine, an r4 gold v2.0 (r4ids.com), is not supported.

Actually, There Are Certain Versions That Do Work On Your Card, Can you get a picture of google or something or your card?

This is exactly the flashcart I have. I don't think wood r4 works with it.

I think the website is different:

Caution: The Wood R4i Gold firmware is only for the R4i Gold made by (http://www.r4ids.cn) R4iDS. Other R4i Gold cards, due to different hardware, can not use the Wood R4i Gold firmware (including the R4i Gold v2, etc)

My bad yes your card uses a modded version of AKAIO 1.8.6a. So no wood support also no official support from AKAIO

great, so will the modded version of Akakio ever be updated? It says the last update was back in 4 20 2011.

I just want to get the most updated FW with this flashcart.

By the way, I didn't say Wood firmware. I said I read on linfox that a better loader from r4iDSN is available, on linfox. Try the kernels below the "Wood Releases for R4iDSN.

I'd say there's a slim chance. Have you ever thought about e-mailing the Team behind that flash card and asking?

Nope, that wood R4 clone thing didn't work. I'll try emailing them and see if I get an answer.
