Mario Kart has never really been, and certainly never will be in the future, fair.

Mario Kart is about how to use every trick to your advantage to do one of two things: stay in first place, or stay in second place and get really good at stealing first when it counts. It's a competition from beginning to end -- fun and/or fair don't even factor in to it.

Where Mario Kart shines is that it's accessible to everyone, and everyone can learn the skills required to be really good at it. You have to abuse driving techniques, items, glitches, anything at your disposal to win.

It's a dirty, dirty game, and you have to play dirty to win. If you aren't willing to play dirty, you're better off getting a different racer.

This is a kids game. IT'S EASY.
Try get 3 star ranks on every cup and thrash everyone online if it's so easy.
I find it bizarre how I can cruise through online mode, winning every single race, and yet on 150cc I get consistently murdered by blue shells, lightning over pits etc. I've been playing Mario Kart all my life, I'm pretty damn good at it, but sometimes it really does irritate me how the computer is a cheating bastard.

Just take it easy and play for fun. Being serious in this game really gets frustrating down the road... and it gets worse especially playing in the public channel. So, just think positively and have fun. If you want a serious game, try joining in a community game with your buddies or any people who follows rules.

If you verse the more competitive players then you have a challenge.
Oh and the computers are smarter in this game, but will not spam attacks at you as much as on Mario Kart Wii.

LOL. Well, it's NOT THAT EASY. Tbh though, I don't find it hard at all. I mainly thrash people online and I got Triple star ranking everywhere. XD

Some people are just naturals. Other people struggle with it. It really depends on how much experience you've had with the series.

This is a kids game.
And yet many adults play it. What would you recommend, Call of Duty? :ha:

So I got the Zelda OOT 3DS bundle for my birthday (2 weeks ago) and decided to pick up MK7 to give me something else to play so I don't get burnt out on Zelda. I loved the older MK games (especially SNES, N64 and Wii) but for some reason I just can't find myself falling for MK7 in the same way...

It feels like Nintendo replaced any sort of skill requirements with the randomness of the item slots when it comes to winning. Be in the lead for 2 1/2 laps and then the guy in 5th gets a blue shell and you suddenly lost your position. I don't remember the blue shell seeming quite as OP in the older entries (except maybe N64)

Otherwise the game seems good. I do enjoy the level designs + the selection in retro courses that were brought back (Would've also liked N64 Rainbow Road :D), the graphics are really good and the options for cart custimization are good also.. but I just don't like that sometimes it seems as though you would be better off cheesing the race by sitting back in 5th-8th for 2 rounds and then move in for a win after you getting something nice off the slots.

Anyone else feel like the game can be quite frustrating at times? I like to think I am not alone, RL friends seem to go on about how great it is and say "U MAD BRO?" if I even mention it to them -.-

It was fun for a while, but then I got rather bored with it. There's not a lot of skill needed. So I took it back and got SSFIV:3D

What and with special moves mapped to the touch screen THAT requires skill?!?

More skill than Mario Kart. I got bored holding a button down and shooting items every so often.

Besides, I play on Pro mode. :P

I see, most people just button mash. Do you plan combo strategies?

I have some strategies. I'm mostly getting used to playing on a handheld, since I'm used to Street Fighter on the 360. Special Moves mapped to the touch screen doesn't bother me too much. Those that abuse it are easy to spot and easy to punish. But what on earth was Capcom thinking with Auto Block? Ugh.
