Waitwat. We can actually modify saves now???-Added the function for encrypting/decrypting 3DS game saves.
It seems so, but I can't use my Mario 3D Land save. It says it needs a key and I have no idea how to find it. Perhaps that 3DSencrypt tool (Or whatever the name is) can get it for me.Waitwat. We can actually modify saves now???-Added the function for encrypting/decrypting 3DS game saves.

So each game has to be cracked separately? That sucks. It seems so, but I can't use my Mario 3D Land save. It says it needs a key and I have no idea how to find it. No. Nintendo has shown everyone a new trump card. Now they can update the 3DS to know and use completely different encryption schemes for save files, so when one is cracked, they can update future games so their saves can't be decrypted using the same methods. This doesn't affect older games though (such as launch titles). Those saves will remain encrypted the same way always.

Oh, I see. Well, can't wait for it to be cracked then.Well, not entirely. There are a bunch of games that can come inbetween the updates which allow new/different encryption. For example, all games BEFORE Super Mario 3D Land should be all decryptable. All games after Super Mario 3D Land, including Super Mario 3D Land, currently have a new encryption but they're encrypted the same way, so if 1 of the new games's saves is cracked then all of the new games's saves can be cracked similarly. We'll probably see a bunch of those, then when those saves are cracked we'll see a new encryption for another bunch, and so forth and so on.
I'm aware that we can decrypt type 1 games, but I haven't heard any accounts of re-encrypting them and having them run after re-encryption. So that still hasn't happened?

I have a problem- I backed up my SM3DL file, and tried to restore it, but it was "Corrupted" and I can't get the 3DSaveTool to work.

Just be sure that it's your own. It will only work on the card it came off of until we can decrypt and encrypt newer saves. You don't need the 3DSaveTool to backup or restore saves...just restore the encrypted save file.. it should work.
No, the problem is that the tool won't even start. The screen flashes with the CMD for the program and it disappears.

So, what exactly is the process for getting somebody elses save to work? Everytime I try on Zelda I get save file corrupted. (using 1.3b and fw 1.2)
Here's what I did:
Extracted Key from dl'ed save and decrypted it with that.
Extracted key from my own zelda save and rencrypted the decrypted save with that.
I also tried uing the same keys for both steps, but my understanding is the above is the proper way.

Why would you do that? It's not necessary to unencrypt and encrypt it when restoring it...(or at least not until they can be modified)
