Hey,

Just bought a second hand PSP 3000 today and was hoping to hack it to play PSP games. Being a university student I tend to be tight with funds =p

The version is 6.31 and I was wondering how to go about hacking or whatever.

Didn't really understand the guides very well and I don't really want to mess anything up.

Thanks for any incoming help for this noob!

Theres no way of getting a permanent? That sounds like a pain in the ass =p
Run the Chronoswitch downgader. You'll need the 6.20 OFW and pro b10 permanent CFW files as well.
The instructions are in the chronoswitch file.

Thanks mate. Just one question. Theres no way of messing my PSP up by downgrading? No versions that don't work or anything like that?

Yes, there is a small chance you could brick (I haven't heard of any w/chronoswitch, though). Downgrading is traditionally seen as risky with 3000 models. You could also get stuck at firm 6.20 if your motherboard is TA-095v2. Run this file to check and see: http://filetrip.net/f26588-PSPident-0-75.html

I don't think it is because of the OFW your on, but check anyway.

There is always a chance of bricking when it comes to downgrading any PSP... Some PSPs can be recovered but none of the 3K series of PSPs (yours) can be recovered the same way...

I haven't tried the chronoswitch downgrader as i never had a 3K... See what someone with a 3K says

EDIT: NINJA'D

Ah, That sounds scary. If it bricks, is there anyway to fix it?

No...dead 3000 is dead.

Try the temp 6.60 PRO B10 CFW....it really isn't that big a deal to boot it.

Few Questions.

1.) Is it safer?
2.) Do you lose all save files and games when it does a shutdown?
3.) After a full shutdown what do you have to do to get the CFW and hacked games working again or whatever.

Thanks for all the help guys. Sorry if I sound stupid, I really don't know much about this stuff.

1.Yes.
2.no.
3.Press X. Wait 18 seconds.

The reason I gave you instructions on how to do the downgrade is that I've done it myself 3 times (I was even a Beta tester). That said, I still think the 6.60 Pro B10 is a safer and more practical solution for you especially since you're a beginner.

Oh wow. Thats all?

I think I'll do that then. How do I go about it? Just update it normally through the PSP?

Pressing X and waiting 18 seconds, does it have to be connected to the internets? Or can you just do it anytime from the card?

There's the file and yeah you can just upgrade normally. Make sure you upgrade OFW first. No internet needed to run the hack.

It's all very simple. You'll laugh at how easy it is. :P

Thanks mate! I'll get started right away.

I assume you just put the PSP iso's you download into a folder on the card?

Cheers again.

EDIT: It says ''The system software of your PSP system is version 6.31. There is no need to update''.

Sorry, figured it out.

One more stupid question. Does it matter if you install 6.60 US firmware if your from UK? I don't have wireless so I have to download the file from the PC and transfer it.

I don't think PSP firmware is region specific.
