Hacking R4i3DS from r4ids.cn

My stupid self went and ruined my r4 i think. Reason being that dorasu doesn't show up anymore, with or without a micro SD.( it should display without anyways)
I was making room for more roms and accidentally deleted the _rpg and _system_. IT WAS AN ACCIDENT. it was a stupid stoner mistake. And i didnt have the firmware files from the download site. I went to their site but the updated again. so...i downloaded the woodr4 but only 2 things _rpg and DS_menu.dat. Thats not enough...so i luckily make an SD back up. decided to try it on a new 4gb sd i got today since...i broke my phone 2 weeks ago. i did it for more space. Well after that its when it did not show up. Also i will add that this is an ambassador console so i DID do the update. BUT i used my r4 on the 3.0.0-6 FW and it worked right up untill today i did the sd swap. so i think i may have broken it... what do you guys thinks

Attention, you need a NDSL and a workalbe flashcard to complete this updating process.

If borrowing a DS Lite is impossible for you for some reason, I would offer unbricking service myself.
However, I need to ask the forum staff whether it's okay for me to offer the free service to individuals (in the US) who don't have access to the trading forum yet (you get access to this at 100 posts).

In the meantime, I recommend checking with your friends, or considering getting a local game shop to let you borrow a (used) DS Lite on-premises.

Did you update your cart already (before you fully updated your 3DS)?

If you did, you're FINE BRO.

You only deleted the FIRMWARE, not the flashed hardware. If you updated, your flashed hardware can never be changed, except by another update.

Just download the FIRMWARE. Download WoodR4 from that same link, and copy pasta the files. Then boot your 3DS and run the cart.

However, if you did not update your R4i (NOT THE FIRMWARE, BUT THE UPGRADE PATCH AREA THING) you're fucked.

Best solution tho... Go to Gamestop, ask them if you can check out a DS Lite and while they aren't looking, pop in your R4i3DS and update. Even if they notice, they might not even do anything (I love my Gamestop guy... they're pirates too ;P)

Absence of the KERNEL, (firmware is the hardware flasher) does not cause the icon disappear from 3DS home menu.
Take the MicroSD out of your own kit and see for yourself.

I'm sorry, firmware IS the hardware flasher. My bad.

Also, you are right, disappearance of the icon would indicate corruption of the flash and would require another cart, even on an old DS.

To do this:

Run the update on a different cart. Don't START it, but eject the cart and put in the R4i3DS. Then start the update. It should patch the R4i3DS with the new firmware and reflash the hardware.

In case of card broken(no card found, no Icon displayed): Use the patch:

You should get a NDSL and another flashcard(We will call it "A"), which works on DS lite.

1.Download the latest firmware and unzip it to the root directory of your tf card;
2.Copy Patch to your tf card;
3.Get your DS out;
4.Just power your NDSL on and boot up Patch with "A" card;
5.Take "A" card out of the NDSL;
6.Reinsert your broken card into the NDSL;
7.Press KEY_A & updating process will begin;
8.You should keep your NDSL powered on during the updating process;
9.IF the result shows SUCCESS, it means you have updated your card successfully and this card can work

Ok sorry for delay post was away three towns over....anyways i got lucky my cousin got a dsl so ima use that and the fake r4i gold 3ds i bougth....i fell for it..hehe. but yea ill report back when done.

Well that didnt work all i got was FAIL in green text. so i got the xmas patch from r4ids.cn a tech support person helped me out and i just got their email and that seems to work its updating now.so ill tell you guys when its done
