Seems the "eggciting" Dizzy adventure promised
yesterday isn't very eggciting at all, with
Codemasters revealing that the egg's grand return
will actually be a remake of Dizzy: Prince of the
Yolkfolk on iOS devices and Android. I am sure we
all had a cynical eggspectation it'd be something
like this.

Codemasters poked fun at the disappointment
with a preemptive jab in its press release, stating,
"The game will not, unfortunately, be available on
Eggsbox."

Still getting android version.

That sucks, should have guessed about the Prince of the Yolkfolk bit tho, as they show the box of the game in the trailer at 0:22 in :(
Can only hope we someday see new Dizzy games on the PSN/XBLA!

Seem to remember Prince of the Yolk Folk being one of the weaker games in the series as well.

Treasure Island Dizzy and Fantasy World Dizzy were my favourites on the C64 and Atari ST.

I'm fine with this is, it could lead to something new. I don't like the design on Dizzy on this but the backgrounds look really nice. My real problem is the touchscreen controls, at times you needed to be quite precise with this for some of the platform parts. Nice that they're doing Android.

Agree on the controls, not really sure how well it'll work on a touchscreen, though a diagonal jump button might make it easier. As for the game, we didn't have this one so yeah it looks pretty sweet from over here :). Was kinda creeped out by the smooth graphics at first but this is 2011 after all, I don't think they'd be taken seriously if they stuck too close to the original pixel art.

Remember sitting and playing these type of games in a 2 hour sitting, only to accidently drop your snorkel underwater and have to start all over again (even without cack-handed touch screen controls?)?

As people don't play games in that manner any more I presume they're going to have a save feature which, as it wasn't designed with one in mind, is basically going to remove the main challenge of the game.

I was an impatient child so I just used the eggsonlegs cheats so I can fly and retrieve it.

That was the invincibility cheat so you didn't need the snorkel anyway :D Flying was icanfly (/whyDoIRememberThis?!)

Aww, my handset's not supported *sadpanda*. Must be the screen resolution, I can't see a 20 year old game being too powerful for a basic smartphone to run. :(
