Minecraft now has an ending

Minecraft 1.9 Prerelease 6 has been rolled out, which features a "final boss" in the form of the Enderdragon, which upon defeating, will show you the end-credits. What is written though, well...it's some unusual fourth-wall breaking stuff that addresses the player individually.



Is Notch for real? Please don't tell me he thought this was a good idea.
This is apparently what he tweeted about last month, the talented writer for the silly "over-the-top out-of-nowhere" ending text.

I haven't watched the ending, as I'm waiting to see it for myself when I start a new survival world in 1.9, but from what I heard, it's stupid. Either way, stop bitching about it. Minecraft is becoming more of an actual game.

It was never intended to be purely sandbox. Now all notch needs to do is make NPCs do something, fix bugs and biomes, and add some kind of crafting recipe guide for beginners (Maybe he could make it so NPCs give you blueprints for trading items to them), give the rest of the useless items (Gold nuggets for instance) a use, and I'd say Minecraft is complete (Or at least able to be called completed.

Didn't want a game out of Minecraft? Minecraft isn't even complete yet. Not to mention, more people want survival to be focused on more rather than the creative aspect of Minecraft, as it's much more fun.

Also, why would notch be trolling? There's credits...calm down. It's not like your world is deleted and you have to start over or anything. Minecraft is becoming what notch originally intended it to be, and guess what...It's his game, not yours. You either have to deal with it, or not play it.

One of the things about Minecraft is that it's not even finished, allowing for people to give feedback, suggestions, etc. during development...So whenever notch adds/removes something people like/dislike, it causes sooooo much commotion that we don't see with games from big name developers who release games when they're finished, not at intervals during development.

This is just my feeling about it, but I enjoyed Minecraft a lot more when it was simply a world with a canvas to work on, and resources to mine. Trying to make some sort of fantasy out of it by adding the nether and the ender dimension or whatever, it just, ugh.
What he had going with an incomplete game was fine and entertaining, trying to make an actual game out of minecraft seems like a bad idea, as opposed to say, Terraria, which is an actual game from the get-go.

If this was actually Notch's original vision for the game from the very beginning I'd be very disappointed, I think this is just what he's been making up as he's gone along.

On a more serious note, this is the end of an optional boss fight in an optional area you don't even need to go into.

Oh wait, that still makes it sound like I think people are bitching just to bitch...

I wonder why.

EDIT: In fact, not only is this optional, it takes a LARGE amount of specific, concentrated effort!
1 - Get a ton of ender pearls (did I mention that endermen will have double HP and less weaknesses and will dodge arrows now? So this will be even harder than it is now).
2 - Get a ton of blaze rods (a new enemy in the nether that shoots fire at you that sets you on fire, and only drops the blaze rod if YOU kill it, not a trap).
3 - Craft the ender pearls and blaze powder into eyes of ender (it's suggested you craft at least 50 or so).
4 - Use the eyes to find your way to a stronghold (they will sometimes break after flying into the sky, thus a bunch of spares).
5 - Fight your way through the stronghold until you find the portal room.
6 - Use more eyes of ender to repair the portal (thus having a large number to begin with).
7 - Go into the portal.
8 - Kill the huge-ass dragon that flies, with 200 HP, and has healing cannons that explode at you when you kill them.
9 - Jump into the portal the dragon makes when it dies to see the ending.

...THEN DEAL WITH IT. Can't the fact that you've beaten the fucking impossible dragon be enough of an achievement by itself? What could possibly be given as a reward? You can already have/make any of the items in Minecraft thanks to Creative mode. There is absolutely NO reason why you would expect a prize. Minecraft isn't ruined, ITS STILL FUCKING MINECRAFT. As Rydian said, JUST IGNORE THE DAMN THING.
