Actually, there are ways to figure out if Wii torrents are fake without downloading them. If it is an ISO, if it isn't the correct size it is almost certainly fake (not 100%, it could be an ISO containing RARs containing an ISO, but that is really stupid). If it is an archive of some sort you can use a torrent client with sequential chunk downloading to download the first pieces and check all the file headers, and the beginning of the ISO to see if it is actually the correct game. It is still possible to fake this, but harder, and most idiots who post fake torrents don't do it. If you really want to verify that something is real, download like the first 10%, extract a file from the ISO (a little tricky) like a text file or a movie and check that it is actually for the desired game (note that at this point, it is simpler to just download the ISO and check).

As to the possibility that it has been leaked already, I sort of doubt it as I would expect the torrent to have been posted here or on that one forum where everybody posts Wii ISOs, but it is possible (especially if it is on a private tracker).

I'm aware of all those methods, but you do you really think the guy who runs Zeldainformer.com and probably doesn't pirate because he gets review copies early really knows how to do any of that. HIGHLY doubtful.

And I agree with your 2nd part, if this guy were telling the truth that ISO would be all over by now. I'm a member of several private gaming torrent sites and it would definitely be on one of those by now if it were truly leaked. So I think it's pretty safe to say this guy has no idea what he's talking about and we can forget about it.

Sounds to me like he doesn't know what he's talking about. How in the world would he know an authentic one from a fake one if he didn't download and try it? Probably just referring to the fake skidrow one floating around.

Oh I know, I never took it that way. I was just apologizing that it really was nothing and I didn't realize it before posting it.

The last game i anticipated this bad was Metroid Other M, which turned out to be a huge disappointment.

Partly blame Yoshio Sakamoto on that one for his nonsensical story telling and adding/changing things at random.
He was making the guys at Team Ninja go nuts.

Then he basically ruined a franchise that once was a part of Nintendo's great three.

Don't worry about it. The moment there is a legitimate leak someone will post here saying there is one. There isn't any single way that a leak on the internet which anyone could access would go unseen to this community.

Well, I don't want to hype things up unnecessarily, but six hours ago, he tweeted "@MASTERofGAMING Of course most of them are fake, however there is an authentic one amongst them.". Then again, maybe he's just trolling, because somehow I seriously doubt that this wouldn't be known by now.

Oh...I just remembered. Someone said earlier that gamestop has copies now. They don't (at least not in America). I work at one, and I looked at all the boxes on the way to the store, none of them are Zelda. Probably won't get it til lthe week before to a few days before the release.

And also thanks for the answer. I've only been around the hacking and pirating scene for like a year, and there haven't really been any big releases that I've been into for it so I'm not familiar with the game leaking patterns. But I'm totally excited, and trying to avoid any spoilers. :3
