The last thread was closed because of whiners? Doesn't really help me.

The advertisements exist when I login. Sometimes I cannot post/save because the bar on the bottom is in the way. Other times clicking Close doesn't work, so I have to refresh and close it. I went into my profile and looked for a way to turn off ads while logged in. I found nothing. How may I browse the site without ads? It isn't a requirement I am just curious, because Costello said login ins = no ads, and yet more than one person has said it still happens.

Also, I would rather have them at the top, not the bottom, since most of the buttons that are important tend to be at the bottom of a page, like Save / Edit/ Post. Recommendations, not whining. ( I know navigation panes are usually at the top, but banners ontop of banners wouldn't be annoying, since all the navigation options are accessible)

I have been part of this site for a long time, and I understand the need for advertisements, I just don't like when they are in my way. Thank you.

at the bottom? save/edit/post?

for me what's at the bottomest part is:

Users browsing this topic

1 user(s) are reading this topic
0 members, 0 guests, 1 anonymous users

and there are other things below that too.

so how are they getting in the way?

Not everyone's screen resolution is the same and everyone gets different ads.

Edit: Also for anyone else reading, I'd suggest not accepting third party cookies (somewhere in your browsers options), cause you'll never know what will happen until this gets sorted.

if you want the site to be faster, then you need to accept the ads
the ads provide the revenue, and if everyone accepts the ads and click them enough, we will have enough to afford an extra server to handle the load.
but if everyone hides them, blocks them, cries every time they see a banner, then there's no revenue for the site, there's no money for servers, so the site will just get slower.

just consider this new advert style (bottom of the page) a temporary experiment, and if it fails we will revert back to regular ad banners.

I do not see adds but i wouldn't mind seeing them as long as they are implemented in a good way ...
there are boards where there is an add after the first post in a "special" post made by some bot, which is a very good way i think ... didn't we have something like this before as well but only if not logged in or something ?

do adds for everyone get some more dollars and make gbatemp fast + make a seperated v2 style forum XD

it's displayed only for guests or members with less than 100 posts.

@Youkai:
This banner style was the one used on GBAtemp v3. (not V2, like your sign says).
one as second comment, and one as one before end for each page.

In my opinion ads that visually cover any site content are bad ads. Too bad ad companies need to use tricks like that in order to get the ads noticed.

EDIT: But getting into why ad companies use tricks like this nowadays and pay higher returns for sites accepting it is an entirely different discussion, as I'd need to go grab relevant research, but suffice to say it's basically the ability to almost force users to physically view the ads by making them visually cover the site content... that doesn't fully work (as the close button or something is away from the ad and usually in a static place so users can still mentally avoid the ads), so I've seen some that go further into the mental-invasion territory, but I don't want to get into that as hopefully the site won't resort to those kinds of ads ever.
