Team Fortress 2 is a free-to-play team-based first-person shooter multiplayer video game developed by Valve Corporation.
You need Steam to make it work.

You seem to have forgotten that the veterans of any community will always have a detrimental opinion of new players, even more so when it comes to games going F2P.
Team Fortress 2 has a very large playerbase, and considering that the general quality of gameplay has fallen with the newer players (who are more used to other multiplayer FPS's like Call of Duty, I'm not even kidding here - I've seen people trying to teabag corpses) it's only natural that a plugin like this would surface. It's not like Team Fortress 2 Premium costs very much at all.
Overall my stance is neutral, but I can see where the developers are coming from.

Indeed, and even I'm not immune from this judgmental mentality, even though I do try to avoid it as much as possible. In Metroid Prime Hunters, when I used to play it competitively, I was very judgmental to newbies in the clans I belonged to after a few years, in fact I forgot I had once been one of those newbies, and it took one of them owning me in seconds to make me realize all that. I probably would be the same way in TF2 had I started playing TF2 back when it wasn't free to play.

Needless to say, this mentality will always exist and no matter how hard one tries to completely eradicate it, it will always be a part of them, perhaps it is a natural part of oneself in one way or another.

As for it being free to play, I'm overjoyed, but I haven't played it a whole lot to really get into it, and I lack the time to do so anyway. As for the free2kick, never heard of it, so I don't know what to say.

I dont mind being tagged as a n00b on TF2 because im F2P and I dont have a mic, The only time it pisses me off is when people doubt my skills because im F2P or actively ignore me. Like nimbus I judge new guys sometimes, but I never let my opinion of a newbie get in the way of winning a match, but the TF2 community seems too quick to judge players and disregard any input, calls for help or even assistance (Ive seen veteran scouts run from my medi-gun range while calling for another medic.) And while were on the subject what the hell is up with hats? I got a spiral helm and I put it on my soldier. God forbid anyone wants to back me up.

already upgraded my account to premium so the F2P kick doesnt affect me

a few people were discussing F2P on a server I was on, saying how they were all n00bs (ie: even bots played better then them) insulting them, ect...
then another person said we were n00bs when we started but got better at the game and they will too

I know some of the vets complain about the item system
they liked it better when there was no choice, it was default or dont play
but it put a lot more life into the game

The game was already all of $10 to begin with, less with Steam sales or $20 with 4 other phenomenal games. I really don't think it changes a lot other than pioneering how F2P can be used correctly.

The game already turned a large profit so they figured that F2P couldn't hurt, and I guess people already bought enough from the Mann Co. store to turn some profit.

Also, experienced players can just find newbie fodder to be some easy kills. Helps you get more weapons and shit. I haven't played a whole lot since it went F2P but I don't hear any of my longtime friends/TF2 players complaining about it. It's still a PC game with a PC base, I don't think there's been a huge change in the overall base.

Well said Guild, well said.

You are right, newbies are great fodder for easy kills, but if I had ever been involved long time in TF2 gaming, I personally would rather teach the ones that are willing to learn how to play effectively instead of making them my prey.

I never really mind FTP players. I bought TF2 like 3 days before it became FTP, so I was kinda lucky, so was my friend that I gifted the game to also. The only annoying thing is that when people spout that "FTP players are shit", where that could be true, is also false when you notice a FTP player kicking your ass.

the weapon/item drop system is random based on play time, not kills
ex: just idling on a server will get you random drops

you can even idle in offline mode/practice and get random drops

okay so i played crimecraft gang wars to get the bolt action blitzer (new TF2 item) and i have it now
but it says the item is not tradable! why the fuck did i play that game then, i want to be able to trade it/sell it! will it ever go normal?

Because you need to buy the premium version of TF2.

According to http://wiki.teamfortress.com/wiki/Bolt_Action_Blitzer it's not tradable at all. Not everything is tradable, especially promotional items.

That doesn't matter I think, I am in the same situation and it's not tradable here too. A bit sad actually, also was looking to trade it for some sweet TF2 stuff.

its not going to be worth much anyway,
it will require gift wrap, its an item anybody can get from another F2P game (just use SAM), and its highly considered by the community as ugly, a football helmet reskin except it all class, its joins the ranks of the gibus hat in another words

Oh, Gift Wrap makes it tradable? Didn't know that, thanks ! What's SAM?
Also, I literally traded the Gibus hat 2 hours ago for a Fancy Fedora. Who said it was useless ;)

not yet anyway, they will soon release an update and make it giftwrapable
gibus hats are worth a rec (tradable ones) so you made a decent profit (assuming the other hat wasnt dirty)

SAM = Steam Achievement Manager
http://gib.me/sam/
allows you to unlock any achievement for any game you own

Ow, thanks :) You seem to know what you're talking about, may I ask how you form your prices? Like for the Gibus, how much is the absolute minimum you want for it? And for Fedora?

I look at various trade threads that are selling gibus hats and generally you can find the average price, or just use the spreadsheet to save time http://tf2spreadsheet.blogspot.com/ since its a low tier item
I see the fadora you traded for was indeed dirty so it was a fair trade

Okay, I got that Spreadsheet too, incredibly handy. INCREDIBLE. But what would make it much more handy for me is a table that says how much a key is worth, how much a refined, ....
Because honestly, I'm having problems sometimes calculating it.

Also, the Fancy Fedora I traded for isn't dirty, according to the Spreadsheet I made at least an 1.11 REF profit :O

your inventory says it dirty http://steamcommunity.com/id/Satangel/inventory/
uncraftable means dirty, it goes for half its value or less if its an unwanted hat
