Mhm, I don't think, that I got one of those faulty Everdrives. I bought mine at the end of 2023 I think, not too long ago.

I'm sorry, I don't know, what this 'fast ewram' is, or where to enable it. I have looked through the options, but I could not find any 'ewram' thing there. Also, searching for it, the google bot tells me, there is no such thing, on the everdrive mini gba, but I don't trust that bot too much.

I am using a GBA Slate, which I commissioned by someone who built it. I don't know, if the innerts where from a GBA SP 001, or 101. It uses a new IPS screen.

Also, here are the pictures of Wolfenstein, with the graphical glitches. But again, as I mentioned, I would consider them a non-issue. They are kinda rare and it is even hard to replicate them, because you have to stand in a very particular spot, to make them appear.

yup those issues happen in og dos. Where did you experience the crash? ewram overclock is in display options on wolf3d

No, no, definately not for a long time. It was the very first time, I played this improved version of Wolfenstein, I tried 2 or 3 different maps, because I got killed really quickly, and then it crashed... maybe 10 min max playtime. I wouldn't worry too much. I mean, it looks, like I am the only one, who experienced such a crash anyway.

Im guessing rounding errors or bad projection, but i can check.

Also I forget. Did i already do moonblood for gba? Im not sure since I just converted it and have memories of playing it on gba

no recollections of moonblood being posted or memories of it that i can recall. seeing this megwad on gba would surely be very impressive!:yaysp:

No, im concerned since I thought i fixed this exact bug which just randomly jumpscares you. I thought it was due to dma timing

serious sam advance port to pc (not based on doom) drag your usa rom into the exe. WASD controls, mouse for aiming and looking, and pgup pgdown for level select. really early in development right now, so bugs expected all over and inaccuracies. this is based off my level viewer and decoded assetts including enemy behavior

Sad thing is, SSA wasn't a bad game, it was a very very bad engine second to Medal of Honor's atrocity on the hardware, but not by much. The stages seemed to be pretty good, so once this is well beyond alpha it could be fun to take for a spin. Intent vs reality.

ikr, the game has so much potential muffled by the terrible engine that forces a bitmap RENDERED IN EWRAM through mode 1 and converts all the graphics from ewram into tiles every single straining cpu. im not sure why they didnt just use bitmap mode 4.

How are you doing these conversions?
Is there any open source repository that can help so that others can make their own DOS -> GBA ports?
I'd really love to see Commander Keen: Invasion of the Vorticons with full music working on the GBA, same as Wolf3D: Spear of Destiny, but even so, I bet many others would love to see how this is done and attempt their own DOS -> GBA ports.

@Bazooka_Face Yeah you're right, you'd know before I do, I'm not coder, but I get concepts to enough of a degree. That engine was so bad in MOH when they decided to make another I wouldn't be surprised if that influenced Infiltrator to be an overhead game and it gained so much value in not sucking and being playable. SSA was just a good game ruined by dogwater design. Some of the racing games were wretched too like Crus'n is a disaster as is the awful Sega Rally which seems to have static cars and pivots the world around it which is so jarring and also just visually awful.

Yet on the flip you'd have the Doom engine and I think Backtrack used it too, then Torus with Doom2/Duck/Ice9, the crawfish engine in the EvsS games, and then the stunning Raylight STudios engine for Smashing Drive and the insane port of Wing Commander that's fully intact. And on another but deserved special care note, the growth of the V3D engine from V-Rally 3 which seems to display fairly well in optical parity to how Sega Rally Saturn does, to Stuntman, and so on to the absurdly well done Asterix XXL and that Cop (GTA clone) title too with that open world of sorts. Also Top Gear Rally and the NFS Underground games deserve a nod as well.

Some people/companies know what to do and will budget the time and money, then you get Serious Sam, MOHU, and a few other atrocities.

I just do it myself by skipping sleep lol. I love doomlike games, especially gba

if you look up prototype footage of serious sam advance, it is much smoother. Im not sure what happened with their code.. maybe they reached the max limit of 8mb and had to offload calculations to slow bios divisions instead of tables or reciprocal division that consumed rom

@Bazooka_Face To be fair anything is on the table. When I worked for Midway in the early 2000s at the time we had a game that was stopped, restarted, and repeatedly cannibalized before it came out on PS2, Legion the Legend of Excalibur. If you saw the design docs book, the amount of stages and the rest that were meant to be in, some that were then culled, it was an utter disaster. The game is functional and B- at best at this rate, easily a C, the left out content would have been such a more immersive, smoother running, better crafted game, and instead it's a wonk mess with bandaids, prayers and digital duct tape to keep it retail functional. It came down to corporate incompetence, budgetary stupidity, knuckle dragging contractors, the works all coming together into a nexus of idiocy. Metroid prime 4 has nothing on what happened with that game on scope and quality vs unfocused and released wreckage.

thats just the sad fate for alot of these games. if you saw, serious sam advance began development around late 2001 and wasnt released until 2004. obviously something was going on with development
