Gee. Imagine that. Nothing but mostly all bitching, whining, and complaining in the comments. The majority of you need to find a new hobby and new website to frequent because it's obvious that gaming isn't really your thing anymore.

Lots of great stuff to play.

Wolverine
Rayman Legends: Retold
Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis
The Lost Wild
Phantom Blaze 0
Dynasty Warriors 3:; Complete Edition Remastered
No Rest for the Wicked
Onimusha: Way of the Sword
Silent Hill: Townfall
Stuntman: Hollywood

Until Dawn 2
God of War: Laufey
All those "games" look like shit though. You're the one that should find a new hobby because obviously you'd rather watch a TV show or movie because this shit isn't videogames. They're 95% cutscenes and scripted animations.

In what ways in this devolution?
It's certainly not an evolution as you put it and a GoW game without the main character himself, Kratos, it just isn't the same game at all. Make it a spin off, if you want.

Why do devs make pretty women ugly in video games...

Utter nonsense. However, there has been the style of game you mentioned since the PS3 with things like Heavy Rain & Beyond Two Souls. Heck, even since the 80's there have been FMV games and laserdisc games like Dragons Lair and many others. Just because you don't care for the style doesn't mean they are not games. Like I said, find a new hobby or stop complaining because the games in State of Play are not the only games coming in 2026-2027. Even if they were, they are not all "95% cutscenes and scripted animations" like you said. Not even close. There is only ONE game of that type on the list in my previous comment.

And why the hell did they make Deborah Ann Woll so ugly in the game, wtf.

You used an 8+ year old pic of her all dolled up with makeup on for comparison? LOL! Not only did you cherry pick her real life image, you also cherry picked images from the game to portray her poorly in it. I can do the same but opposite. She looks fine & you can also capture MANY images from the game play video that are the spitting image of her. You 100% cherry picked.

Hopefully, Stuntman will be good. I got goosebumps hearing the theme tunes for Knight Rider and Miami Vice.

This was a great State of Play for me, personally.
Actually stuntman did look cool. And it's a great idea to use licensed IP as parts of the scenes that you're stuntman for. You could keep updating it all the time. Thought I get a feeling this kind of game will get delisted after some time due to all the licensing or they just straight rip those sections out of the game.

Like "oops back to the future rights expired were deleting that from the game permanently!"

Still not as bad as she's portrayed in the game.

I personally dont care how they portray a female to look in a video game. It's the story, dialogue, and gameplay that is most important.

if they have a good story and dont try to undermine kratos in the game I will be happy. My main worry from the footage shown is that she looks like shes so much more powerful than Kratos and has more fighting capabilities than he does. They introduced some stuff like double jumping that doesnt look like it actually fits well in the open-world design of their game. She cant double jump over alot of things not because her jumping capability but because the game design wont allow it. That bothers me more than how she looks.

See my edit that was still in progress at the time of your reply ;)
You chose a very specific frame where she looks good, but most of the time that's not the case.

No, they made her ugly and that's an important aspect. Maybe not to you.

Finally an actual God of War game combat-wise, yet without the actual god of war.

I don't mind the shift to a more agile protagonist at all, but there are still a few gripes I have with this game:

- cute little creature inserted solely for merchandising purposes
- supposedly humorous side characters that are actually obnoxious

Let's see what other tropes they went for and whether or not the story makes up for that.

You're wrong though. It looks like the spitting image of Deborah in video game form most of the time. The problem isn't with her looks, the problem is with your expectations. You're expecting too much photo-realism and wanting a 41 year old woman being motion captured to play a Norse warrior - to be depicted as a 32-33 year old from a real life glam shot.

Not that Stellar Blade is a bad game, but go play Stellar Blade. And not that the costumes in Stellar Blade are bad, but If it was up to you, I'm sure you'd want those types of costumes in God of War: Laufey too.

Is it, though? Because if male protagonist attractiveness had even an ounce of importance, Dark Souls/Bloodborne/Elden Ring, Fallout, Gears of War, Kingdom Come, Elder Scrolls, and more would all be dead franchises. It's always female protagonists that people complain about being too ugly to enjoy the game. I wonder why :glare:

Looks like God of War is Goddess of War now. Witcher is doing the same thing for the witcher 4 replacing the main character.

The sheer amount of sexism in this thread...

Why do you want to fuck video game characters? Why would your standard of beauty apply to everyone else?

totally disingenious take. Attractiveness matters just like movies especially for character driven narratives which characters aren't self inserts like dark souls/bloodbourne, elden ring, fallout, etc. And none of the leads in those games were "ugly" anyways.

here are some examples of the obvious.
Naughty Dog – Nathan Drake (Uncharted): Original Knoxville-based design scrapped for a "more traditionally handsome" version. https://www.gamespot.com/articles/uncharteds-nathan-drake-used-to-look-like-this/1100-6430958/

CD Projekt Red – Geralt (Witcher): Designer Truściński: had to be "handsome," https://www.cdprojektred.com/en/blo...of-rivia-designer-przemyslaw-trust-truscinski

Capcom - Leon Kennedy
Resident Evil Requiem director says there are 'many fans' of Leon S. Kennedy at the studio and that 'women in particular were pretty strict' when reviewing his 'hot uncle' design

Yeah, I think it's important for games like this to have a fully playable version on disc at launch. If there are any mandatory updates then that's a red flag.

How is she able to overpower that huge demon guy? Didn't Kratos form a Faustian pact with the Roman/Greek gods for his strength and abilities? Was she in the other games? What does her magic do? I'm not very versed in God of War lore except 'naked man kill god'.

The game looks amazing, and I really liked it, and if you disagree and think it sucked you're less than human to me, and you deserve to have awful things happen to you, and you can eat my trash and suffer until you're out of breath!

I definitely want to play Tokon as it looks so reminiscent of Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom. No idea why Capcom didn't include it in their fighting collections 'cause I'd replay it again and again. :(

From my understanding, it's a licensing nightmare now, there a million different rights holders for all the characters. CvS3 is much more likely for their next versus game.

She's a frost giant in lore, not sure how magic works in that land since it seems to be a "god afterlife" of some sort inspired by several different mythologies.
