Rhythm Heaven Groove gets July 2nd release date alongside surprisingly reasonable pricing

Announced a little over a year ago during a Nintendo Direct, details have been relatively sparse about the latest entry to the Rhythm Heaven (Rhythm Paradise in PAL regions) series. It's not like there's really much that needs saying in all fairness, you somewhat know what you're signing up for with these games, stuffed to the brim with over the top rhythmic action. There's some good news for fans either way, with Nintendo announcing not just the release date for the game, but both the pricing and physical availability.

Launching on the 2nd of July, the game is set to get a physical release on the Nintendo Switch. In this current market of spiralling prices, the real surprise is that it's set to cost £33.99 in the UK, and $39.99 in the US. That's the same for both physical and digital versions if you were curious.

If you're interested in seeing more, you can find some fresh gameplay footage over on the official Nintendo Today app.

Sounds like the same trash.

TTS or AI... Wtf.

Euughhh, I'ma be honest, that's enough to put me off from it. Nintendo's one of the biggest gaming companies out there, and they're cheaping out on a fucking music game? It's pretty telling they haven't shown off any of the songs with proper vocals, they're probably going to use the same thing.

It's just so damn disapointing, the Rhythm Heaven games are always fantastic, why'd they have to go and drag it down like that?

Sounds like a similar TTS engine to what they use in the Tomodachi series.
They probably use the same Nuance Vocalizer engine like in Tomodachi Life.

100% hype. Rhythm Heaven is the most fun franchise in all of Nintendo
I agree. I love me some good rhythm games. :D

Played the DS version to death as a kid and completed about half of the game thus far.

I heard "surprisingly reasonable" and my first thought was "it's gonna be 50 bucks isn't it". Sad that's what counts as "reasonable" these days. 40 isn't too bad, about on par with wario ware pricing I guess, and it's a similar kind of game and complexity, so makes sense.

I don't know about you, but I suck so hard at these games. The remixes are pain and by the time I get to remix 10 I have forgotten all the previous stuff because it's been literal years, so I have zero chance at beating it. You have to basically play through everything in one sitting to remember everything you need to remember for the remixes. I like them, but I wish they were a bit easier.

This is the most pointless complaint. Previous Rhythm Heaven games didn't have vocalised text bubble speech at all. TTS was presumably added for accessibility, and I wouldn't be surprised full voice acting was out of budget (consider the final price too), since the series is known to have a bunch of dialogue from a bunch of different characters.

If that is putting you off from the whole series... I think that is a pretty bad excuse. I wouldn't be surprised if the game lets you turn TTS off.

If it were an accessibility feature, they wouldn't have shown it off in the very first trailer. It's nice being able to hear the lines, but the TTS they use is so annoying. Metroid Dread didn't let you turn it off, and it made any time I had to talk to Adam genuinely give me a headache. In the case of Endless Ocean, you have to turn off *all* the voice acting (which is really only the TTS for the AI character, the human characters just make bubble noises that also get muted by the Voice volume). Moreover, with this being a music game, it's not out of the question for them to try using the TTS for song vocals if they already don't want to pay a voice actor for the game, which absolutely affects the quality of the game.

Huh? Dawg what are you talking about, why would one game making questionable choices put me off from a series I already love? I already own all the other games, but this game's looking like it might be worth skipping.

A TTS voice gives you a headache? Really? That seems hard to believe

I have a lot of rhythm games on Steam and some of these types of games are extremely fun!

And I grew up on games like Bust A Groove and Guitar Hero.

But looking at this game, and hearing the music in that video, this looks very basic and boring!

Games like this can be made in less than 2 years, there is no reason to delay the crap out of it, with those basic visuals.

Go back to PlayStation 2 and look up Gitaroo Man, and then come back and look at this game!

So sad and not worth $40 in 2026.
