Just another observation, but if the gun was that prone to discharging on its own, how is it that it didn't discharge while on the victim himself during the long struggle when it went off in the agent's hands so quickly? Pure luck?

Yup. This administration isn't going to be as transparent as simply ending democracy. They'll still have "democracy". They'll still have an "election". Much in the same way how in a libertarian fantasy where there's a total monopoly, there'd still a "market". All they have to do is satisfy the technical definition, and they think nobody will notice or care. And they're probably right.
I wouldn't care any less if they were black/brown/etc. and I wouldn't care any less if they were foreigners. It would all be equally disgusting and reprehensible. But I understand what you're saying, though. It throws it back to the deplorables to show that it can happen to anyone.
