Quite a few random issues I have with the Junior:
1. GBC games do not load at all, white-screen
2. GB games work normaly
3. Pokemon Yellow
- experiences tiny graphical glitches in sprites (a few pixels in the enemy pokemon (always the exact same) have the colour of mines health bar, always the same ones, new savefiles have the same pixels affected)
- pikachu in viridian forest "ghosts" and rubber bands very minimally
- in viridian forest usually crashes, otherwise randomly beforehand
4. Pokemon Silver
- no graphical glitches
- randomly crashes, usually just stuck screen, not white like yellow
I tried:
- Different cards
(had slower cards before that crashed much quicker, bought a proper one, now atleast the GB games work)
- Different firmwares/kernels
(even combining as I saw one or two mentions where people said it worked for them. No luck)
(FW4 had issues with GB games too, after FW5 it stopped, downgrading to FW4 didn't reintroduce the issue)
- GBC w IPS mod, GBA with ITA and USB-C mod, GBA SP stock
(tried on all, all have the same reproducible glitched pixels and behavior)
- SHA check of ROMs correct
- RTC battery reading is 2.87V (should switch it out but this shouldn't cause issues)
- Pins are clean, menu boots normally, no visible bridging on pins
- making the .sav files in an emulator on PC, then dragging them into SAVER to guarrantee correct creation
I know the Junior is abandonware, just wanted to post here if someone else ever experiences the same. Maybe its a faulty card, no clue. Sadly can't contact the seller as it was a gift from some time ago...I just wish
@EZ-Flash2 would open-source this one because its been 5 years since the last FW/kernel update...
Cheers guys.
