Purchased an EZ Flash Omega a year ago and it was DoA and the seller wouldn't refund me.

It would instantly boot into safe mode, wouldn't update giving an error for "BAD NOR ID" and if I used the test option an error of "S71 ID ERROR!!!!".

Applying some pressure on the S71 chip which is on the left hand side of the FPGA it would sometimes boot but this didn't last for long.

I tried reballing the chip entirely but still no joy. Same errors.

In the end I was able to source a replacement S71 chip which I installed today and the issue is resolved!

I made a video but looking at rules I'm not allowed to post links?

Where did you buy the cart from?

Ali-Express. Can't remember who the seller was exactly, was a while back.

Raised a dispute but it was like talking to a brick wall.
I'm sure you can get a refund without returning it. I've had that before with a DS flashcart that I bought.

I tried hard but no luck. It's likely too late now anyway.

But the good news is that I fixed it! So it's not all bad news 😅.

Next time, its best to get them from a reputable seller instead of an unlicensed seller that wasn't authorized by EZ-FLASH themselves.

But glad you've got it fixed after all.

Oh for sure. I took a gamble and it didn't pay off.

Though these issues don't sound all that uncommon. But a resolution outside of repairing yourself would be easier with a reputable seller.

Hello, how do i stop the my ezflash omega de from auto saves? i don't make a save, I don't wish to make a save, it makes one by itself and puts it in the "SAVER" folder, I am more than happy for games that have built in saves to be saved in the FRAM, and its fine it saves when I choose to make a save state

The rumble doesn't work in the standalone mode
In settings set mode B to "Link"
Moved drill dozer to Nor
Flipped physical switch to B mode
Played the game, no rumble :c

it starts normally and recognizes the ROMS, but when I try to boot I have no success

clean boot = white screen
write to nor clean = black screen

safe mode > test card says: "read S98 ID ERROR!!!!"

I did the reflow of this BGA chip (S98), as mentioned, but it still not working

edit: i created a thread about it, but can't past the url here

So I upgraded to FW5 and got OSINT stuck but somehow maneged to downgrade to FW4 but after I put games on the sd card I got strange perfomance. On FPGBC it says now Micro SD initial error, on modded gbp I got black screen after logo starts to fall down and then screen reboots and stuck on loading, on modded DMG and unmodded gbasp i got OSINT stuck, on unmodded gbp I have blanck screen after logo appears and sound of turning on in a loop. Any ideas is it fixible?

I have an EZ Flash Jr that will not work correctly with my GBC. Whenever I boot it up, it does some sort of reboot and when I press a game, it shows the gameboy logo but these Nintendo Logo is just dots. The strange thing is that it works without any problem on mu DMG Gameboy and Gameboy Advanced SP. All 3 handhelds are unmodded. I used fresh AA Batteries. Not the rechargeable ones either. And even with those, it still doesn't work correctly. At times I have gotten to boot up with firmware 4 but never firmware 5. Even with firmware 4, it still has bugs. I only recently bought it, currently I am trying to contact the store I bought it from. For the mean time I wonder if I could get any tips from here.

Hello,
I've got a problem with my definitive edition.

Game direct boot to white screen most of the time (small games like 4 or 8 mb sometime work, but not every time).
Everything works ok when written to norflash.

I have seen this fix:
9. EZ-FLASH OMEGA/OMEGA Definitive Edition gets white screen when direct boot a game. but the same game runs well on the NORFLASH.
Go to the safe mode by power console with SELECT pressed, choose "test card" or "test psram" depends different firmware, look the test result, there is a high probability that S98 error will be displayed. The S98 chip is located at the back side of the PCB. The one at the right side in three chips. Use a heat gun to re-solder it. Please use high-temperature tape to protect other chips and components around it from being blown away.

But my test says: read S98 ID OK

What could be the problem?

Thanks

After runing more test it seems that game size doesn't change anything. Direct boot only works some time (not much).

Test card still says s71 and s98 are ok.

Any help?

So I'm still runing some tests.
I've been putting the battery in and out of the cartbridge for around a hour and the result is pretty clear.

Battery in : direct boot doesn't work (almost never).
Battery out: direct boot works 100% of the time.

Hopefully it will last it time.

So, is that a thing?
Can you confirm I don't need the battery if I don't use RTC?

Thanks

I have this exact issue. Same Omega DE, and there are no S98 errors. I can't test the battery in/battery out because mine is soldered directly on with two pins. Any additional insights here, perhaps from the EZ Flash team?

i lost the loader by accidentally holding select while starting. once i got that fixed i now have an error on every startup. “Rev B FIRMWARE UPDATE check crc32 error”

when i press b it goes ahead to the menu, loads and saves games fine but every now and again it loses the time, seemingly at random. i just changed the battery a couple weeks ago so i don’t think it can be dead.

The EZ team has been unpleasantly mute unfortunatly.

Still haven't got any new issue with mine so I would still go with "low battery = problem" even though it seems really weird.

What do you mean by "yours is soldered" ? Are we speaking about the same thing? The battery is meant to be change overtime.
