I did not know you can get a laptop with three screens (two of which foldable), I'm very much missing out a lot of tech news. I can see this being useful if you've got messages on the left, watching videos on the center, and whatnot, but this must've been quite expensive.

Well the reason you've probably not heard of it is because it's one of those AliExpress OEM laptops. It's so OEM in fact, that the model is still listed as something along the lines of "To be completed by OEM" lol.

Bit of a gamble but it's a form factor that's not found its way into western markets for whatever reason. Has an i7 12700H inside and runs well enough, so I'm actually pretty happy. As for price, I think I paid around £700 for 32GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD. Could've certainly got it cheaper with less stuff inside, but I just didn't have the energy to go searching for parts.

Quick update, as well as a warning for anyone in a similar position in regards to the Windows license.

The GPU itself is still struggling at boot, what doesn't help is that UEFI keeps re-enabling settings and the UI not actually reflecting the settings e.g. I enable Resize Bar, the GUI says it's enabled but because of the constant reboots it's re-enabling CSM without warning me which also disables Resize Bar.

I did manage to install the driver, which from what I've read should have also updated the firmware, the latter of which I was hoping would fix this.

I'm just going to wait now for the other card I ordered.

As for the windows license.....turns out it got transfered to the new machine as I temporarily needed Windows to do said firmware update.

I don't know how it happened, either the fresh Rufus made Windows On-The-Go USB drive also transferred the license (which would be news to me) or MS used the CPU as the basis for the activation rather than a combination of hardware like I'd expect.

If the latter is true, it makes me wonder if any second hand CPUs also come with a 'free' Windows license?

I ended up logging into the install using my MS account and making sure it's linked to my account, so hopefully in the future I will be able to re-use that license.

Are you using a fresh install or an OEM supplied install? I ask because there have been known issues with either cracked installs or worse malware.

Massgrave is your only bet into permanently activating Windows; it's free and you don't need to spend extra bucks on a new license. I think Microsoft's licensing scheme is pretty scummy and they haven't changed it since (it's been discussed on one of LTT's videos before). Depends on how many times you swap the hardware, but one misstep can tell you that you need to activate Windows again because it thinks it's another computer, to which then you'd have to contact Microsoft for support which they may or may not assist with your request.

Jesus Christ, that SUCKS ON ICE TOO!!!

Fresh install. I still need to use their drivers, but I at least have English Windows instead of the weird Chinese locale one they set it up with.

So far I just cleaned everything with warm water and dish soap, the main board was cleaned using Isopropyl alcohol and teeth brush. tomorrow will test everything and the weekend will do my magic of retrobrite .

As a precaution, I would just run a scan on those drivers, preferably from another system.

Not saying every company will have this and even Apple has had issues in the past, but I suspect a 'small no brand Aliexpress OEM' is less likely to be caught when it does.

Nice, I look forward to seeing her returned to her former glory. I see Mario World, what's the second game?

Update to my new server build.

The new GPU just works without any hassle, although annoyingly I didn't realise that it required a dedicated Power cable (fortunately I'm using my old 'gaming' PSU).

At this point I don't know if the card is just faulty or it's a compatibility issues with the motherboard e.g. UEFI, power, etc.

Tommorrow I hope to transition from my old thin client/secondary server.

Bought Maneater and Dead Island 2 Ultimate Edition during the Steam Winter Sale. I bought a roll of low-adhesion hobby 10mm masking tape, 2 packs of 30 Olfa replacement blades, a bottle of Tamiya X-16 and X-32 enamel paint, 2 bottles of silver, a sky blue bottle of Gaianotes Surfacer Evo, a bottle of Gaianotes Premium Red, a bottle of Ultra Marine Blue, a bottle of Gaia Primary Color Green, and a Gaia Prism Pastel Mint Green Blue from the online hobby store I usually order paints from. They had their own mystery box, so I ordered one from them.

Unfortunately, the courier they shipped my order with went under and didn't tell them right after they picked up my order, so they have to reship it to me.

I also ordered some random hobby tools I wanted/needed, some 10 ft USB cables, and a USB cable tester from Temu/AliExpress.

Interesting stuff. With how there's no branding around the laptop, there doesn't seem to be any company that is selling them, but there *may* be quite a few in some countries that would consider it (namely 3rd-party sellers or companies that don't endulge too much into manufacturing laptops). £700 is not that bad since it's about the same price you would usually get a laptop with an AMD Ryzen 7 for.
