If you drop a real copper penny on a hard surface, you'll usually be able to hear a high pitched belltone sound, but with any penny from 1982-onward (there are some, but not many 1982 all copper pennies. Most are zinc.), you just get a non-resonant thunk.

Though I'm not even sure if they even existed back in 1867 or if it was still "Dominion money".
However, there do were half-cent and two cents coins back then.

Trump had a hate boner for pennies, that and they also costed like 3.50 cents to make a penny.

Half of the Coinstar machines don't work in my area + who cares about them when they literally take 10% of our money and then provide nothing in return other than the cash that was literally ours, and every other machine like washers or vending machines don't take pennies

Most of our coinage has been dead since 1965 and 1971 (for half dollars). I carry a silver dollar from 1889 in my wallet with me everywhere (I only paid $12 for it and it's worn flat). I flip and and ping it from time to time for people if I remember I still have it and they really get a kick out of it and the sound. It literally sounds like a bell. The 90% silver/10% copper sounds really pleasant.
