Nintendo has just announced that they will host a Nintendo Direct focused solely on the brand new "Super Mario Galaxy Movie". We previously only had the teaser trailer released for the movie, which was the original announcement for it, back on September 12th, 2025.

It's important to note that during the weekend, several leaked images and renders were released due to a licensed box of cookies from Pillsbury appearing in the wild, showcasing official renders from Mario, Yoshi, one Yoshi egg and at the back, the observatory from the iconic Galaxy videogame, alongside a couple of galaxies, and most interestingly, the shape of what seems to be the icon/silhouette of Bowser Jr.'s face, hinting at a possible appearance of said character in the Galaxy Movie.

The Nintendo Direct will air on November 12th, 2025, at 6am PT.

I’m sorry if we have any excited members in here for the new movie but I would of really preferred Nintendo to of concentrated on making a new Super Mario Galaxy 3 title for the Switch 2 instead

The first movie was great. If this one turns out good too, it's a really good omen for the DK movie that we supposedly will have in 2-3 years.

Nintendo isn't making this movie.

Also, departments exist. A big company isn't working on just one product at a time.

Also, *would have.

I was watching the last animated mario movie and realized something. Mario and Luigi went to the mushroom kindom through a pipe in the sewer. Later it shows Princess Peach coming out of a pipe as a baby. Was Princess Peach dumped into the Brooklyn sewer as a baby. Is she an abandoned prom night dumpster baby 🤣.

I still haven't seen the first movie. I remember losing interest after finding out Donkey Kong was being voiced by Seth Rogen. Fuck Seth Rogen and fuck his "comedy style".

Also, Sonic gets Jim Carrey as his villain's voice actor, Mario gets fucking Jack Black, how awful.

Games as a market are dying. Nintendo knows this and is diversifying their output, and extracting all they can from their IP. Other industry players are learning this as well, being the main reason for the price increases.

Maybe you should actually watch their showcases once in a while rather than saying something so obviously ignorant and false. [...]
Bait. Unrelatedly, Chibi Robo fans are very unhinged, including Scott the Woz.

Fans of dead ips tend to be that way.

Looks kind of good, envirorments looks good and Bowsers Jr's voice sounded good too. Just hope that it will be funny or as good as the previous one.

It's a no brainer that they should do a Mario Galaxy 3 on Switch 2 (should have done it on Switch 1 tbh)
But they won't. They refused to announce any new Mario games on the 40th anniversary, so I very strongly doubt that they'll announce anything now.

P.S. the $40 ports don't count as new games.

I've never played any of the Galaxy games. So this one doesn't have the same impact as the first movie. But I like Brie Larson, plus my kids will 100% want to see this. So yeah, look forward to it.

Maybe I should pick up both of the remastered games too, eh?

40th Anniversary and we got 2 ports and like a Yoshi's game? (actually it releases next year)
At least announce the new Mario even if it's for holiday 2026 or something...

I'm not a fan of how Peach and Rosalina are being portrayed in the upcoming Super Mario Galaxy movie.

Peach has been completely masculinised again, just like in the original 2023 Mario film. Instead of being the gentle, graceful, occasionally ditzy but always caring and feminine princess she’s always been in the games, she’s suddenly an action heroine who fights off hordes of enemies. That’s never been her character in the games, and it shouldn't be here either; in the actual Galaxy and Odyssey games, she gets captured by Bowser and Mario rescues her — that’s the core fairy‑tale dynamic Mario was built on, from the very beginning on the NES.

Rosalina is getting the same treatment now, which is truly unfortunate. In the Galaxy games, she was a serene cosmic guide who advised Mario and cared for the Lumas. She didn’t fight. She wasn’t meant to fight. Turning her into another combat-focused action girl just erases what made her unique.

The problem isn’t that female characters shouldn’t have agency — it’s that their agency is always being rewritten to look exactly like male agency. Femininity gets tossed aside in favour of generic action‑hero traits, and that’s both unrealistic and boring. Peach could’ve had a great role doing something more fitting, like stealthily gathering information after being captured (like in the first two Paper Mario games) and sending it to Mario through a Luma, like how she sent information about Bowser's activities or the upcoming region to Mario through Twink, the Star Kid, in the first Paper Mario game. Heck, since these movies love referencing old Mario games, they could have even named this Luma "Twink"!

As for Rosalina, she should’ve stayed a non‑combat advisor to the Bros., guiding them instead of throwing magic around and battling Megaleg herself - remained an advisor, like she was in the first Super Mario Galaxy game, where she cared for the Lumas and kept watch over the Bros. whilst staying on board her Comet Observatory.

Not every character needs to be a fighter to be valuable. Let the Mario Bros. be the main heroes, and let the princesses keep the feminine qualities that made them iconic and beloved in the first place.
