Hey everyone. My name is Chris. My brand is Currently_Retro. I'm not trying to sell myself here or promote anything at all. Just wanted to note that my brand is about retro gaming, since that is the theme of this website, and it applies here. I have been delving into the texture packs for PCSX2, and I've been having a blast using them on games. I didn't know they were so easy to apply.

I've also been thinking about making my own textures for some games, but I don't know where to start. It's just something I feel like I would be interested in trying out and seeing how it works. Maybe someone can lead me in the right direction on exactly how to start doing this?

Welcome to the GBATemp forums! Don't forget to check into the hotel. As far as making pcsx2 texture packs I have no idea how that works so I wouldn't be the best person to ask about that. I'm sure someone with knowledge of texture packs could point you in the right direction.

welcome to gbatemp. I am a big fan of texture packs for PS2 games. Its the golden age of retro. Always glad to see more people jumping on the wave. Theres a texture group that has some info on the process which basically is using some software to cache the textures where you have to play through 100% of the game to dump all the textures. Then using some other software to upscale those textures and compiling those upscaled textures. Thats the basic gist of it but you can get more details in the texture pack groups for each emulator. PS1 and PS2 seem to be the most active with duckstation and PCSX2.

We need some more people to delve into the RPGs from PS2. Because you have to play through 100% RPGs take the most work to compile because the time it takes to play through the games to get the cache the textures.

I have been planning on doing gaming rom hacks and HD upscalers of PS2 and Gamecube games. Those are some nice accolades you have there, sir. If it isn't a dumb question, where is this hotel and what is in it on this website?

Thank you for the welcome, and I actually feel like I should have been here over 10 years ago. I'm just now researching HD textures after years of debating how hard they were to use in emulators; it wasn't hard at all to apply them, which sparked my interest in making my own for games I may like.

Watched the whole video, and what an amazing skill set and time it takes to do this. Absolutely incredible. I'll need a lot of time to study this. Thanks again!

The hotel is at the top of this section. You basically get a welcome and a free trophy for checking into the gbatemp hotel. Thanks for liking my youtube channel. Yes a lot of practice and a lot of work goes into making my extreme challenge runs.
