Because I had no intention on getting a PSP until someone gave me his
to settle a debt, I don’t know much about it. I thought I’d ask before I start
going to other forums & reading up on what I can do with it.

Question
It is running OS/ firmware 2.70, can I run the ISO games off the SD?
Or can I run home brew? I was tolled because I had 2.70 I may be SOL.

Thanks for any info.

I think someone released a 2.7 downgrader... lemme check my logs.

Edit: Nope, that was DevHook. I guess you're fucked for now. Just for now, though.

There isn't a 2.7 downgrader YET but with all the new stuff being discovered I expect that there will be one soon. If it is in good condition you could always go to somewhere like wal-mart and buy another one and switch them out. So you will have one with a lower firmware that way you can downgrade. But you will have to have the GTA game to run the downgrader. The switching thing may seem a bit wrong but no one looses anything since wal-mart will just send it back to sony and get a new one in it's place.

There’s an idea I didn’t think of, on average what firmware is the PSP coming with?
Now just have to find out if they keep track of Serial #’s, & as long as a new unit comes
with 2.60 or earlier I should be fine.

Thanks for all the help guys.

A friend of mine just bought a PSP from Bestbuy it came with 2.01. There is a way to find out what firmware is on the PSP by looking at the code on the box I just need to find the link real quick.

Here ya go
http://forums.qj.net/showthread.php?t=28718

Just make sure you go to a store that lets you pick the psp you want. Not like Bestbuy that keeps them in the back. Also if you do get a new one make sure it doesn't come with 2.6 already installed as the downgrader will not work with it. Last bit of info, if you do decide to downgrade and you get the GTA game make sure you buy it used as the newer ones have been patched so that the exploit for the downgrader and homebrew will not work.
