Today I tried to access my SD card via MicroSD Manager. This always worked fine after I enabled SMB1.0 on Windows, but today it failed. It's the second time I tried to transfer files since we changed ISP. Last time it was troublesome, but I somehow got it to work. Today I had no such luck. I can ping my 3DS with "ping 3DS", I see the 3DS under Network in the file explorer, but I just get an error about my laptop being unable to open \\3DS.
My new router is probably the cause, but it's UI is so unfriendly and unwieldy that I gave up. You see, I never bothered setting up FTPD on my 3DS because I never needed it: MicroSD Manager worked fine, untill it didn't. I figured the easiest thing to do was to just open up my 3DS and access the SD card from my Windows (10) laptop and then place the FTPD cia file on it and transfer the save I wanted to edit. And that's when disaster seems to have struck.
When I inserted the card into Windows, all I got was a transparant drive icon under This PC. I ejected the thing and decided to place it back in my 3DS. Now my 3DS won't boot up anymore and stays stuck in a black screen.
What am I to do now? My SD card is a 256 GB SD card. The thought of losing all that data sends me into full-blown panic mode here. I have zero clue what has gone wrong here let alone how to fix this. I'm desperate for help here.
EDIT:
Upon inserting it into my laptop again I was able to access my card this time and access my files, but my 3DS still stays stuck in a black screen, as if the CFW is unable to boot anymore. When I booted while holding select I did got to see the Luma3DS configuration menu when the SD card wasn't inserted, so the CFW is OK.
Now I reinserted the SD card after I rewrote some of the files in the root to it like the .boot files, just to make sure they're not corrupted. I was able to start with all games present if I start from the configuration menu and press start to save. But when I start up straight without going through the configuration menu, my installed games and apps aren't present...
EDIT EDIT:
Went through a few reboot cycles again, and for some reason the system now boots with all games and apps present. It was as if it couldn't see the boot file by default unless manually starting through the config menu of godmode9, but now it suddenly does despite me not having changed anything.
Seems like the problem resolved itself just like that, although the whole experience has left a very bitter taste in my mouth.
