Atmosphere CFW updated to version 1.9.4, now supports Switch OFW 20.4.0

Following on the heels of the Nintendo Switch firmware update for version 20.4.0 is a new update for Atmosphere CFW. SciresM has just released version 1.9.4, which adds support for the latest OFW, and even fixes a few minor bugs on top of that. As always, you can grab the latest version of Atmosphere from its official GitHub page, linked below.

The following was changed since the last release:

  • Basic support was added for 20.4.0.
    • An issue was fixed in exosphère's register accessilibity tables (thanks @CTCaer).
      • I believe this had no impact on official code, though it would have prevented some homebrew from interacting correctly with the MC0/MC1 registers.
  • An issue was fixed that could cause a deadlock when building multiple romfs images simultaneously (thanks @Ereza).
    • This fixes support for certain mods, e.g. system language translations overriding content for both overlayDisp and qlaunch.
  • General system stability improvements to enhance the user's experience.

My atmosphere version is 20.3.0 and I have no idea how to update, can you update on the switch itself, or do I need to use a PC?
Check this guide by impeeza. In short, you'll need the latest firmware update as well as latest Atmosphere to copy over to your SD card. After that reboot into Atmosphere CFW and update your console's firmware via Daybreak and reboot. Don't forget to update your sys-modules as well (like MissionControl). Don't update unless all of your sys-modules are up-to-date and working. sys-patch should work on the latest firmware/Atmosphere/Hekate.

One Atmosphere to rule them all.

It will go from 20.5.0 to 20.6.0, 20.7.0, 20.8.0, and so on — with an update once a month.

can someone let me know if Super Mario 64 is blocked on 20+ before i upgrade. its really the only homebrew i still care about keeping me from upgrading. and SoH to an extent but im not too fussed.

Even if the Switch 2 will get hacked at some point in the future, SciresM already confirmed that he will not be developing a CFW for it. So, no, not Atmosphere 2.

I said no to buying a Switch 2. ( Not committing to not buying, Nintendo hater don't be too happy )

:)

How is it keeping you from upgrading? Does it need to be re-built with a new libnx? You can build it yourself, or there are many other people who can, if they knew which kind of build you're using and with what options...

No reason why it should be. Whatever repo yours came from, you can just see if anybody has posted an issue. Even if they did, all it usually takes is to build it again with the latest libnx. It's a game, not a sys-module.

You are probably talking about the change in debug flag that happened from 1.7 to 1.8. It will probably never change back. Better get used to how the flag is already.

exactly... is there is advantage to move away from19.0.1? is it just the latest games will not work?
Nintendo has already aligned its tool chain with Switch 2, and I wouldn’t be surprised if every developer eventually follows suit. So I expect most updates and new games will require at lease 20.

If not for Switch 2 I doubt this getting a new update every month would be happening.

20.1.1 seems to be the base requirement for most people.

Yet, I'm still on 19.0.1 (but with updated Atmosphere and homebrew).
I read 20.x reduces the RAM available to mods (or was it homebrew?) while playing an official game, so I'm avoiding updating until I get a game that requires 20.x firmwares.
