I used to think raw milk should be legal with health warnings on the label but not anymore. There will always be people who misled by misinformation online consume it despite being a vulnerable person or serve it to vulnerable people. Vulnerable people being young children, the elderly, pregnant women and immunocompromised people. There should be exceptions for artisan cheesemakers.

Personally I drink it from time to time for kicks but the worst that will happen to me is spending a few days sitting on the toilet. I don't drink it much because it's something I have to travel to buy and it costs three times as much as supermarket milk. I don't believe the health claims made about it.

Hahaha, raw milk! This is really the most absurd timeline, ever. I will tell you one thing: the question is not whether it should be legal but whether drinking it is a sane thing to do. I will just give you one hint: this question has long been answered already and everyone who does not want to see this facts is brain-dead, basically

Only people who do not believe in science, logic and basic reasoning would think otherwise, or let me put it this way: people who think that stopping testing for corona virus and drinking bleach will make the virus go away. The USA is one step away from pouring Coca Cola (but only with sugar made from sugar canes!) on the fields of their farms. Idiocracy is nothing against the reality we are living in now. I hate this timeline...

... I feel like I'm missing a controversy here. Or rather: yet another distraction from team Trump. Anything to shift the attention away from Epstein, i guess?

On-topic: I'm sure ICE agents would love to arrest young moms for breastfeeding, but what's the context here? Get some freaking food standards already and shut up about it. It's not like this is the sort of thing for a public debate.

We tend to look after women, sterilize equipment, store it for short periods of time in the fridge.

If they looked after cattle and you drank from the teat, I'm sure you'd be fine.

Been something for months, mostly because of some dumbasses influencers showing their "more natural" lifestyle, as they believe pasteurization takes away something important from the milk (like nutrients or just plain makes it more toxic or bad)

Anyone with any sort of common sense and a bit of knowledge about food would be able to tell you that boiling something to kill bacteria on... any sort of liquid or eatable has been a common practice that has saved uncountable amounts of people for a long time but whatever I guess-

me, going in: "do people straight up not want to drink milk anymore??? god"
me, going out: "OH THAT'S WHAT THEY MEAN."

To be faaaaaaaaaaaaair, drinking milk way after the developmental stage is actually us being weird lol

There is a lot more lactose intolerance in the world than tolerance, to the point having tolerance is historically the abnormality

I think it should be available with all the relevant best current science and health information of the risks it poses directly labeled on it so people can make an informed decision. In addition to that, it contains further labeling that makes it clear that the person that purchased it must ensure that anyone that wishes to drink or use it read all the relevant warning labels themselves and that it is illegal for it to be served, consumed or used by anyone that is deemed to not be legally capable of making that decision for themselves. Further, the person who purchases it accepts full civil and criminal liability if anything happens to anyone as a direct consequence of them consuming or using the raw milk.

I think this should be the basic model for anything that is deemed "risky", cigarettes, pot, alcohol, etc... Let people choose their level of risk and liability. Want to risk it and be liable? Go for it. Don't want to risk it or be liable? Don't buy it.

The right for the dumbasses of our society to get Salmonella, E. coli, Campylobacter, Staphylococcus aureus, Yersinia, Brucella, Coxiella and Listeria and even H5N1 avian influenza in their body should not be infringed upon.

How else is natural selection supposed to take place if we dumbass proof milk ?

One of the whole reasons why pasteurizing cow's milk is a thing is because it gets rid of bacteria and pathogens, particularly those harmful to humans. It's to make it safe for "human" consumption. Calfs don't need that done because it's cow milk. Made by cows, for the consumption of cows. Do we eat raw meat? Of course not. We cook it, not just for flavor. It helps kill bacteria and makes it more digestible for human consumption.

I stopped drinking raw milk when i stopped breastfeeding...
Funny, but seriously, human breast milk is safe for humans because it was made for human consumption as-is. It may not do well for other animals.

No, not at grocery but farm shop or specialty shop with warning label? Sure, I'm not going to drink at all.

Cow milk give me weight gain, so I'm sticking with oat milk.

Milk drinker here. Raw shouldn't be allowed to be sold.

I've had raw milk. Our family and friends owned farms going back generations, so it used to be pretty normal to just have your own animals with fresh milk and such, and you didn't really bother with pasteurization unless you either sold it or wanted to lengthen the amount of time it was good for. These were also small operations, not corporate. Pasture raised and grass fed etc. So sort of a best case scenario with taste and reduced risk of pathogens.

What I can tell you is that even at its best, raw doesn't taste any better than quality pasteurized milk. Or ultra pasteurized for that matter. And unlike fruit or vegetable juice, pasteurization doesn't negatively impact the flavor of milk.

Consuming raw milk when it doesn't taste any better than decent quality pasteurized milk, has no added health benefits AND comes with a fairly significant risk of making you very ill is just stupid. There's no way around that.

I don't think people should be outlawed from owning their own personal dairy cow and consuming their own raw milk. But they should not be allowed to sell their raw milk to other people without pasteurization and regulation. Nor should so-called "health food" markets be allowed to sell raw milk with the "not for human consumption label" they slap on it to circumvent the law.

If someone wants to drink it, that's their choice. But to sell it should more than likely be illegal. Far too much history of it causing issues to the human digestive system. Some people can try to get used to it, but it's still training your body to do something it isn't meant to.

I miss the days when hippy beliefs were pushed to the side by default instead of giving every opinion equal credibility. Now we have a small subset of people who honestly believe the earth is flat.....

Hell yes, I love raw crow's milk.
Of course, I should have feed you with raw milk when you were baby in 1990.

Oh wait, raw milk with special NES blend. Just saw you grew bigger and you got awesome intelligent, lol.

Just kidding.

I used to think we should try to prevent people harming themselves

And then they bred. I think we should all just agree with everything Trump or his idiot disciples says.
