I apologize if I've missed a thread talking about this specific issue, but many of them are old and suggest a solution that makes no immediate sense for the issue I'm having, are definitely not the issue I am having because the problem is different or do not provide specific instructions.

I've been using my Wii U with GameCube injects made through TeconMoon's Injector for a long while; I made it through the full runtime of Twin Snakes, Sunshine and a few other titles without any issue, any recognizable bugs, anything. I put my console down for a few months, picked it up recently, and now it's showing a black screen when I attempt to boot a GameCube game. I have seen several threads saying you shouldn't use TeconMoon's at all for one reason or another, but I missed warnings previously and only encountered issues very recently.

I'm running Aroma, building injects in TeconMoon's Injector and installing them through WUP Installer GX2. Storage is on an external drive, a 1TB Western Digital SSD in an ORICO enclosure. One thread mentioned the problem only occurring with specific controller setups; mine is failing regardless. Wii titles are booting just fine, both official and injected. I would be happy to provide any additional necessary information.

Have you checked that you have thr Nintendont files on your SD card? Try both installing the (v)Wii homebrew app and the one included in the injector. I would personally recommend switching to UWUVCI. If that doesn't work, can you provide more information about the things on your SD card and procedures on how you inject your GameCube games?

Are your GameCube games perhaps on a usb? My GameCube games and wii games were black screening for weeks til I stumbled onto a comment on a no upvotes Reddit post that mentioned such. He even said “This is for some reason never said when people make a post about this problem” and he’s right there like 50 post between this forum and Reddit and legit nobody ever offers that solution. I moved them to my hard drive. IMMEDIATELY stopped black screening.

This is a long shot but I also left my wii u for months and came back to it and all my gamecube games would black screen, do u happen to by any chance have your controllers charging in the USB ports? Or the charger USB plugged in? If so unplugged them and then try it and mine stopped black screening i just have to make sure my Wii pro controllers are fully charged in future when I'm gonna play a gamecube game

I don't know what the cause is but having a USB charger cable connected to a pad just seems to make GCN games black screen

Had similar happen to me. For me it seems to have been bad save files? But something is definitely weird with it as I had a random bout of it working, and then breaking again, before dealing with the save files.

Is it now working for you? I have the same problem with animal crossing gc. After deleting the bad save file, it's still the dark screen of death. Only unplugging helps to shut down the console
