For context:

I have a CAT-R Reader with a damaged disc drive or damaged connection. Yesterday, I installed the Wii U Menu Changer Tool on it and it returns with the following error (translated into English from Japanese).

Because it will no longer boot because no disc drive, I have been attempting for 3+ hours to load UDPIH and enter minute_minute (following this guide to get into minute https://gbatemp.net/threads/how-to-set-up-isfshax.642258/) to disable the disc drive. However, no matter what timing I pull off, it won't boot whatsoever and continues to show 160-1402.

Interestingly, my UDPIH device of choice (Pi Pico) no longer works with my retail Wii U either despite it having the needed files!

All of this is funny because I remember this Pico working! I remember being able to pull off the recovery menu and getting the timing right and now it just won't boot for some godforsaken reason?!

I've been at this all day and I'm getting frustrated, I just need someone to give me a new perspective!

Please help, and thanks!

If the Pico isn't working for your retail unit either, I'd start troubleshooting there. Try reflashing the Pico, or see if you can get another one. I've had a Pico or two die just sitting on the shelf, so I'm unsure how common that is.

I've already tried reflashing it. I'd figure that if it can connect to my PC, it should connect to my CAT-R, right?

It might not be your case, but do you have any USB device connected to it? That can prevent udpih from booting into the recovery menu.

Also, have you tried cleaning the SD card slot with isopropyl alcohol or something similar? Maybe the console isn’t able to read the SD card properly due to dirt or oxidation in the SD slot, which could be why it’s not booting into the recovery menu.

But apparently, the best option at this point would be to try it with a new Raspberry Pi Pico.

Any updates on it? I don't think UDPiH works on it. at least is not working on my kosk. I guess the only option is defuse to disable the drive. maybe it's easier just to fix the drive.

Yes actually! I THINK I figured out why it wouldn't load.

UDPIH doesn't seem to support developer mode; the unit needs to be in Production Mode. Most homebrew doesn't support Developer Mode.
