Hi!

I’m having an issue getting cheats to show up in TWiLight Menu++ for a patched version of The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass. The patch I’m using allows D-Pad movement instead of using the stylus. The game works and runs fine, but cheats won’t show up in the cheat menu, even though I’ve edited the usrcheat.dat file and matched the Game ID.

For context: I’m using a New 3DS XL with the latest version of TWiLight Menu++, installed through Universal Updater. I’ve also verified that cheats work just fine for other games. Mario Kart DS shows cheats, and so does a clean USA version of Phantom Hourglass.

I checked the Game ID for my patched Phantom Hourglass ROM in TWiLight Menu++, and it shows AZEE. I then used HashMyFiles to see the CRC32 of the ROM, and it gave me 404E6312. So the full internal ID is AZEE 404E6312.

The official cheat database I’m using is from the DeadSkullzJr's NDS(i) Cheat Databases, which includes cheats for Phantom Hourglass USA (ID: AZEE 5900DAF3). I opened that usrcheat.dat in R4CCE, copied the official Phantom Hourglass entry, renamed it for the D-Pad patched version, and updated the CRC to match my patched ROM (404E6312). I saved the file and placed it back in /_nds/TWiLightMenu/extras/ on the SD card.

Still, no cheats appear when I press Y and open the Cheats menu for the patched ROM in TWiLight Menu++. I’ve rebooted the 3DS and double-checked the file path.

Is there something I’m missing here? Has anyone successfully gotten cheats to work with patched DS ROMs that have a different CRC? Do I need to use a different tool than R4CCE to create the cheat entry? Would appreciate any advice.

Have you tried using RomeR to check/rename the ID ?
