Stolen consoles is a very different example and scenario
The problem is that again the term and conditions of the Switch 2 say that Nintendo can legally brick your Switch 2 if they think you hacked or modified it. And yes that includes banning any modified controller like if you know you replace your Switch 2 controllers sticks.
When a company is legally allowed to do something the question is not if they will do something but when they will do it.
Even if you do nothing wrong tech companies can fuck you over, as proven many times. For example Sony deleting the movies you digitally bought to watch in your Playstation to give a recent ish example.
So yes this is something people needs to be warned about because no decades old company modifies their term and conditions in a way that will get bad rep unless they are actually planning to use those new terms and conditions.
So your fixed Switch 2 controller getting banned because Nintendo thinks is a third party controller not licensed by Nintendo? They can do that.
Brick your Switch 2 if they think you hacked or modified it? They can do that.
Notice the only really argument people seems to have online is "Nintendo has never done something like that before" or "Remote bricking has only been done in stolen consoles so far" but the problem is,
Nintendo wouldn't have modified their terms and conditions if they didn't plan to use the new terms and conditions.
Maybe I am wrong, maybe nothing will happen but I honesty don't want a company bricking something I bought just because they think I violated their terms and conditions.
Neither do I want to pay 80 dollars for a Mario Kart game.
Or reward Nintendo with my money for not fixing Joycon drift and worse now being able to ban a conttoller if I modify it in any way even if is just to fix it.
