We are just one day away from the new Nintendo console hitting store shelves, and in preparation for the release, Nintendo has released the Day One update for the Nintendo Switch 2 console, bringing several features previously unveiled on the Switch 2 Direct, as well as finally unlocking the device for users to play with the console.

The update number correlates with that of the Nintendo Switch 1, following the same versioning scheme from it, with update v20.1.1 now available for download for on the Switch 2 console, same as with the original Switch v20.1.1 update that was released just yesterday.
The official changelog for the Switch 2 update 20.1.1 includes the following:
  • Use of Nintendo Switch software
  • Nintendo Switch Online
  • Game Chat
  • Share communication
  • Full transfer
  • Virtual Game Cards
  • Nintendo eShop
  • Game news
  • Upload function for screenshots and videos to the server
  • Linkage with smartphone apps “Nintendo Parental Controls Switch” and “Nintendo Switch App”, etc.

For details on each function, please see the Nintendo website.
  • With some exceptions, linkage with a Nintendo Account is required to use network functions.
  • The system must be updated if you want to use Nintendo Switch 2 software provided with a game key card.
  • The system must be updated if you want to use a microSD Express card.
  • When you connect to the Internet during the initial setup of the system, you will be prompted to update the system, and if you try to use a function from the HOME menu, etc., a guide will be displayed on the screen if a system update is required.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to update the system.
Additionally, Nintendo has also released updates for a slew of first party Switch 1 titles in preparation for the Switch 2 release, usually optimizations for the games to handle high resolutions and also support for Switch 2's HDR, while others do have further changes to make better use of the Switch 2 hardware, like in the case of the exclusive features for BotW or TotK.
Some of first party titles that received updates recently are the following:
  • ARMS
  • Big Brain Academy: Brain VS Brain
  • Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker
  • Clubhouse Games: 51 Worldwide Classics
  • Game Builder Garage

With just mere hours before the console is finally out, players can begin preparing to migrate all their Switch games into the upcoming console, for those interested in upgrading, and with the latest firmware update for Switch 2, users with the console already in their hands since days ago can now finally start delving into the console proper.

Shut up for once, you moron. "full HDR" is not even a technical term. No one wants your pointless trolling here.
The only solution for this would be a hard ban on this guy (it's practically a long time coming with how little their posts actually contribute to every thread they inflict themselves to), but that would mean less posts and therefore less engagement.

20 bux each
"By connecting your Nintendo Switch 2 to the internet and performing a system update, you can download free updates for selected games that may improve graphics or add support for features such as GameShare*. The contents of these free updates will differ depending on the game."

Most switch 2 updates will be free, only a few enhanced™️ game updates will cost money

Sorry full HDR is 32k only with 50:1 aspect ratio, Sony does what Nintendon't amirite guys???

Absolutely. Yet users like @Bladexdsl and @SDA, who do nothing but shit-post and fuel bickering, are tolerated to no end. At least they post.

It’s a tricky one. As if a future exploit is pushed / ran via the microsd card then you MUST install the day 1 patch to activate the SD port. If not, fast forward 2 years and an exploit drops you can’t run…
Tough decision for people with 2 consoles. I guess
No idea why the SD card doesn’t work out the box
