I have a probably silly question. I see a lot of mentions here about CS 1. Does this version include the first game and the second? I thought it only included the second game. Thank you for your hard work!
So, that Japanese versions of Hacker's Memory also include CS 1, which received some new features, including human player costumes and the new HM only Digimon. This was cut out of the international versions of HM. The TV Anime Sound Edition of HM is a special version of HM that also includes the ability to change music in certain parts of the game, such as during Evolution, battle, and the Detective office. It also added all the anime theme songs up to that point as options for that music change.

I am fine with someone trying to port this patch to the PC version, just as long as they credit me and the others properly and don't change any of my translation choices. Although, on the other hand, if anyone notices any translation errors I missed, please tell me.
Heya, I wanted to let you know that I am in the process of porting this to Steam! As you requested, no changes are being done to the translation you released on PS Vita and I will be giving you guys full credit.

Hey, that's really cool! And thanks very much for doing as I asked!

Happy I can be of service! Although I really wish I had done this sooner. I have already finished the porting the entire translation yesterday. I have been playing through different aspects of the game and it's looking great! Being able to have the optimizations, enhancements and mods really makes me feel like this belongs here in the Steam port. I still need to fix a menu AND a battle related bug (And anything else I might bump into during playtesting. However, even though I feel that I need to get this out ASAP to help boost sales for Bandai Namco before the sequel, Time Stranger, releases in late 2025, I am trying to port some actual content beyond just the retranslation. In particular, the unique costumes and the Anime BGMs. Even though the model and texture stuff is ported, it still might take a bit more time. The truth is I might run into an wall and have to backtrack to it being just a simple retranslation if I run into an issue like certain functions that need to trigger features in game (both data and script folders) end up being hardcoded into the eboot.bin versus our pc .exe. But gosh... there sure is a lot of script files and I most certainly could run into problems if the 32 bit scripts decide they don't want to behave when being converted into being script64.

I'd also like to mention I have corrected 2 very slight grammar mistakes I've found in the CS part while retaining your exact word choice and keeping the tone I believe you intended. For one instance a character says "cop've been around here a lot" which I corrected to "cops have been around here a lot". another is before meeting Nokia for the first time when receiving your 2nd keyword, a boy says "Well, I'm know about Coulomb, but Junk Park, so I've heard, is ..... a park full of junk!" which I replaced with "Well, I don't know about Coulomb, but ( etc)". If I notice any other errors, I will explicitly ask you if that is okay.

Thanks a lot for this improvement for the translation. I wanna ask, this is only for the second game? I mean I don't know if this is a version with both games, or just for the sequel (Hacker's memory). If that's the case, the first game should be played with the official translation or there is another english patch?

I believe you are misguided, the original patch is only for a Japanese copy of a quite rare edition for PS Vita (only). The version contains both games, much like the global release of Complete Edition. The patch translates both games.

Sure, I very much appreciate you asking.
After you're done with your patch, I'll do an update of mine to fix those typos you mentioned and any others you mention that come up.

Thank you so much for welcoming me to be part of the project with you, I'd gladly share anything I find as I play test! It might end up saving a lot of time for me if we work together as you have a lot of skill with identifying the files associated with the necessary grammar fixes (judging from the interactions with another member on this thread). If you wouldn't mind, I was wondering if you could DM me so I could give you my Discord contact info (easier to facilitate those updated scripts back to me, the method I use can convert those PS Vita files to the pc build in a very efficient manner--we could probably release both of our versions simultaneously) but it may take me a while when we get to that point where we do--I would very much like to update you on where I am with this project; I successfully recompiled all of those script folder files from txt and then back to script64 using what knowledge is available on 32-bit .nut (Squirrel) scripts. (They are functioning quite well!) I am still preoccupied with trying to replace the functions for the options menu where they needed. I must replace the practically useless data sharing agreement with the options for customizing the BGMs, which admittedly is ending up being quite temperamental because of the strict policies the game engine uses for these files. It might push back the play testing ever so slightly while I reevaluate what to do about this...

Thank you very much! I take a lot of pride in my passion for Digimon and the fandom that loves and appreciates these stories and characters. I truly believe that these stories that have been properly transcribed by ofthriceandmen and their collaborators deserve to be in the hands of the majority of fans who have purchased this game on Steam.
I hope this community embraces this contribution and begin/replay this game in its entirety.

At some point in the distant future, I will be also be attempting to release of a WIP undub/retranslation(partial) of Digimon Savers: Another Mission / Digimon World Data Squad for Playstation 2 that I unfortunately ran into some roadblocks on before with UI text box sizing which led to text overflow. If anyone has knowledge in translating games specifically for Bandai Namco's proprietary game engine around the time of this games release, I encourage you to reach out to me through DMs.

So I've been playing this game for a while and even checked both games. But Sistermon isn't appearing as an evolution path for the digimon that are supposed to evolve to her. I even downloaded every dlc I could find yet the lady who gives out the dlc isn't giving her out. Does anyone know how to make her appear as an evolution path?

Edit: I managed to find a fix minutes after making the post

Simply put the PCSG01119 DLC that you got from NPS into readdcontent folder named PCSG01126

My dude, there is a chance to add an option to revert X and O? I mean other translated games use the JP layout but the other games use the Western layout for those buttons, or there is a way for us to edit that by ourselves?
Also thanks again for this translation.

@ElvisKocho use buttonswap plugin for this game TITLE_ID.
Can you please provide me a link to the plugin? I know nothing about installing manually plugins and in Gamebrew the 0.2 version of the plugin (assuming that's the one you meant) it's not in .suprx format.

What I ended doing was this: download the plugin from here: https://github.com/Scorpeg/Button-Swap and put in ur0 not ux0 and now works, I didn't add something to the boot config or config files from the tai folder that is in ur0. It works. I hope I did everthing ok.

Just found this thread after a friend linked it on Discord. It's great that this patch is finally getting ported to the PC version, I hope anything else that needs to be worked on goes smoothly and it releases soon, can't wait to play this game again on my Steam Deck (I originally played it a few years back, but I never beat the game)

@ofthriceandmen I'd like to report some things.
1. You can change "yuurei" to be just "ghost". Ghost works just fine (from the prologue).
2. When writing numbers (such as 1, 1st) write them in letters (first, one). That's the rule when it comes to literature or just writing in general.
3. Makotot -> Makoto
4. No need to spam so many ellipses. Just shorten it to three (...) instead. Having a line that goes like "............................" looks really weird.
5. When you have a line like this "Well...they always[...]" make sure it goes like this "Well... they always". You do sometimes add that space but sometimes it's not there.
6. Also add "..." before "?!" (?!! -> ...?!). As for "..!!" just keep one exclamation mark ("...!").
7. Some lines go outside text box (ones I found so far are in the screenshots)
8. I spotted another typo where it said "They hangs..." (forgot to take the screenshot so I'll just post the official one where it said "He hangs..."). The line should say "They hang..."
9. everthing -> everything
10. Two choices but the line breaking breaks it a bit.
11. "To it simply and succinctly..." -> "To put it simply and succinctly..."
12. Remove "defeating".
13. No line break thus the text goes off screen.
Aside of that. it looks more or less good so far.

Thanks for the typo report.
Yuurei is a specific cultural reference in the Japanese version so that was an intentional change, the ellipses being longer was also in the Japanese version, and the multiple ! are also in the Japanese version and are intentional. But the rest I'll look into and fix for the next patch version. Thank you!

Just wanted to quietly ask if any progress has been made with porting the translation over to the steam version? Not being rude or anything, just trying to decide if I wait a bit longer to replay, I’m planning to do it before Time Stranger. Hope all is well otherwise.

We're working on it, but these things take time.
You can always play the Vita version, which already has a version of the patch out.
I wouldn't recommend playing the game's default unaltered translation, as it really is pretty rough.

Thanks for the update, was just curious how things were going. I’ve got it loaded on my vita but would rather replay on my pc/Steam Deck, so I’m happy to wait. Yeah the original translation had some really weird moments, haha. Thanks again for your work on this! (and Hakaru)
