RE4 is completely feasible on 3DS. We had RE Revelations, and Capcom had RE5 running on the 3DS while developing Revelations and Mercenaries 3D.
Feasible, yes, but without a source or decomp, it ain't happening

I would say, if no one ever tried to add separate ways mode and PRL to the gamecube version. No one would make a port of this game on an unsupported console

Everybody would probably love RE4 on the 3ds. Is it technically feasible? Sure! If the Zeebo can play RE4, I'm sure the 3ds could. The problem is that we don't have existing source code to port. Without a decomp/engine reimplementation the best you can do is a ground up remake/demake, which historically have been average at best on the console.

A better idea would be to try to develop your own original horror game (either on the 3ds, or an easier dev platform). That way you can determine a more achievable scope than remaking a veritable masterpiece from the ground up. If you don't have a PC, but do have an android phone, maybe check out Godot engine? It wouldn't work on the 3ds, but it could be a good place to start with game programming and design.

I could be behind the times, but it seems hard to believe anyone's learning programming by tapping things out on a smartphone screen.

maybe not on the screen but you can connect a usb keyboard and mouse to a phone, some phones even support connecting to an external display to have a pseudo desktop mode, like samsung dex

Here's the thing: Resident Evil 4's platforms are only on sixth-generation consoles and above.
It would make a good port, but despite the game being on these consoles, it does seem practically impossible.
However games on sixth-generation consoles, such as Grand Theft Auto 3, have been ported to the New 3DS, so there could be a chance of it being possible. It does seem very unlikely of happening though.

I remember someone saying they were going to try to port Infuse (Zeebo emulator) to the 3DS and that it wouldn't be that hard since they both use the same CPU.

Maybe if that happens you'll be able to play the Zeebo version of Resident Evil 4 on your 3DS.

if anything maybe the extinct mobile phone LG version could be ported but I cannot see the actual official versions of RE4 being ported
Or the Zeebo one?

Is Resident Evil Revelations bad?

Usually people beg ports for vita
A port from re4 android to vita is feasible? XD

Any link to the thread or whatever?

The Zeebo version is not Resident Evil Revelations, but rather a version of Resident Evil 4 itself, If I'm not mistaken, the Zeebo version was used as a base for the later iOS/Android version.

Here you can take a better look at what it looks like:

About it being possible, well... the Zeebo has an ARM11 CPU and QDSP5 running at 528MHz, the Nintendo 3DS has an ARM11 MPCore running at 268MHz and an ARM9 single core.

That alone helps a lot.

Infuse is also a very lightweight emulator for PCs and not at all demanding, but it is still in beta, unfortunately most of the Zeebo games are not compatible with it yet:

http://tuxality.net/projects/infuse_zeebo_emulator

So... it is definitely possible, but I wouldn't expect it to happen any time soon.

ok - capcom and nintendo are both known to wait till projects progress and then they pull the rug out from under them and laugh at best. Court at worst, Go ahead, encourage some kid to go get cooked. I bet you watch inspirational yt videos xD
I agree with the way you think and also want to be your friend. pls accept fr fr

thanks! Still. I think I wont continue the project since I’m too stupid to code anything. So… even if it would be cool to have RE4 on 3ds (or atleast for me) but I dont think I’m the guy to do it. -lol

you'd think with how many times capcom re-released re4 on every other platform, that they would've brought it to 3ds or vita.

Imagine a Resident Evil 4 experience tailored specifically for the Nintendo 3DS. While the original game is known for its detailed environments, action-packed sequences, and iconic horror elements, this concept reimagines it to fit the 3DS’s capabilities without sacrificing its atmosphere. The goal? To make the game feel as intense, immersive, and thrilling as it always has, while being optimized for the 3DS hardware.

Key Features:

1. Optimized Graphics:

To make Resident Evil 4 work on the 3DS, the game would need to undergo a visual downgrade, but it wouldn’t lose its core charm. Textures would be simplified, and distant objects would be rendered with fewer details. The environment would be reworked to preserve atmosphere while making sure that performance remains smooth, giving players a creepy yet functional survival horror experience.

2. Darker Atmosphere with Dynamic Lighting and Fog:

The 3DS could use the power of dynamic lighting and fog to enhance the horror experience. As the game gets darker, light sources (like torches or lanterns) would shine brighter and feel more important for navigation. Fog would add tension, making it harder to see enemies in the distance. The setting would make players feel isolated, relying on the few light sources they can find, with the fog enhancing the mystery and danger in the atmosphere. Players would be immersed in the tension of trying to stay alive in a world full of threats.

3. Adjustable Settings for Personalization:

Not everyone enjoys the same type of horror. The concept could include options to adjust things like brightness and fog intensity. For example, players could choose how much fog they want in the game to make the environment scarier, or if they prefer brighter lighting to better navigate the world. For night gamers, there could be a brightness adjustment setting to make the game more comfortable on the eyes. These settings would allow the game to be adapted to individual preferences while maintaining the eerie feeling the game is known for.

4. Interactive Lighting Effects:

Imagine Leon using a torch in the game. As you step into darker areas, the light from the torch would become more important and would shine stronger to help guide the way. As the fog and darkness consume the surroundings, the contrast would make the lights feel even more powerful, making players feel like they are battling the environment itself. The darker it gets, the more the light becomes a lifeline in the horrifying world.

5. Downscaling While Preserving Core Mechanics:

The core mechanics of Resident Evil like: exploration, combat, and puzzle-solving—would remain intact. What we’re needed to focus on is adjusting the map and certain details to fit within the hardware limitations of the 3DS. The game would maintain its original essence, but with necessary tweaks to make it run smoothly on a handheld system. It would be a true survival horror experience on the go!

Why This Would Work:

This reimagined Resident Evil 4 for the 3DS would not just be a port but an adaptation. By downgrading some graphics, implementing adjustable settings, and enhancing the lighting and fog effects, this version could capture the same intense and gripping atmosphere of the original while being optimized for the 3DS hardware.

A Call to Action:

To anyone out there interested in creating a unique Resident Evil 4 experience for the 3DS, this is a concept that could work with hard work, creativity, and dedication. The idea of creating this game isn’t just about preserving the original horror but about making it work on handheld devices, offering a new twist on an old classic. Whether you’re a programmer, artist, or designer, your input could turn this vision into something exciting.

If you’re passionate about RE4, horror games, or even just creating cool projects for the 3DS, maybe this is the idea you’ve been waiting for. Let’s bring Resident Evil 4 to a new platform, the 3DS, and make it an experience that would excite and terrify players once more.

this is doable but someone would probably need to use this old 2009 iPhone version there are links to get the app on archive.org

i mean I'm no app/game dev but i doubt there's much different techwise in an old crappy iphone and a 3ds

I'm also a catboy with no Laptop / PC (nor Smart Phone / Tablet either). But coding in LUA on Vita for Vita is possible. Don't know what on-device offerings 3DS has though.

I'm really bummed it wasnt on vita but revelations was, or code veronica

it would be great to have a portable with every biohazard game on it, 1 1dx 2 dualshock and 3 via adrenaline, then code veronica and 4 on the vita
