PlayStation Network suffers hours-long outage, services now restored

Beginning Friday afternoon, the PlayStation Network began to suffer from small issues, ranging from problems for users attempting to sign into the platform, or errors when players tried to view their trophy pages. As the night continued, PSN connectivity only got worse, with the entire network going down for all PlayStation users. Sony noted that "some users" were affected by issues, simply referring to a status page that notes that all aspects of PSN are down, at the time of writing. As of right now, there's no ETA as to when the outage might be fixed, nor any exact explanation as to why no one can access PSN.

Last year, Sony suffered a similar issue, where PSN was down for over eight hours, in October 2024. You can keep an eye on Sony's official PlayStation Network tracker below, to see when services begin to return.

Update: Sony have announced that all services have now been restored and that all PlayStation Plus users will receive an additional 5 days of complimentary service.

i personally hope the psn service being down is a ddos attack in retaliation for sony saying they are removing all the ps4 games from ps+ and won't be adding anymore ps4 games for the free monthly games or to psn anymore.

situations like what sony is doing by gutting ps+ and psn, are the only times i'd ever approve of a ddos attack on a game company.

sony must pay for their continued anti-consumerism and for the asinine decision to remove all the games from ps+ when the ps5 ain't got shit for games.
That is NOT what they said. All they announced was that next year, PS4 games as MONTHLY games will just be less common.

Ive had no issues at all, even my kids playing online.

Tho their website was having issues accessing the psn February updates, but on console was fine.

And they want to make their consoles to always be connected to the internet. 😑

Imagine being connected to the internet and you'd still be unable to activate your PS5 Disc Drive add-on. That would be really annoying.

I mean, it's working all fine again, but relying on online services is a flawed idea.

It's the other way around, it's a bad idea if the consumer has all the leverage

Yes, a free game would have been much better of an apology. Heck, only five days? They couldn't even be bothered to give its paid customers a full week. Smh.

My PS4/PS5 aren't connected to the internet so it didn't affect me, but if there was a free game to claim, yep I'd redeem it.

I genuinely thought the image of the official tweet was fake because of the Concord inclusion. It adds a strange bit of humor to an otherwise serious situation.

If I were Sony, I'd let the users keep Concord. It can't do any financial harm, it won't impact sales, and it adds a curiosity to everyone's library.
