i 100 percent appreciate all of you but i don''t think your understanding. The card is corrupt but i can put it in my laptop and look at the files on it but the list of games i can't find what folder on the sd card
you can go to 120 im planing to do so i can ditch the card i just wanna remember what i have on it
ok so you are looking for a list of games. unfortunately games are stored in the Nintendo 3ds folder, so it's encrypted and you won't be able to access it

anything obtained legitimately is stored on your nintendo account and you can see it in the redownload section of the eshop (dispite being down, this still works)

for other stuff you might be out of luck unless you kept the .cia files on the sd card when installing

Anything that you have downloaded previously from the eShop can be re-built into a CIA file using GM9.

Your answer is right there to the point.

Hello, I made a thread about making content from digital shop work on citra but I'll repost it here in a sticky for more exposure, if you don't mind:
I stumbled upon these digital shop dumps (some of them are games, some are dlc, some are even updates) that are packed in an archive and inside there's several weird blank files with numbers (mainly with zeros) and the last file is always named tmd*, alas I wasn't able to launch this on citra, so what are my options if I want to? some of the games are only available in this format. I figured it should be possible to convert them to 3ds or cia somehow

Hi how do I know for certain if a battery is bloated? I have an old 3ds xl and a new 3ds xl, and the new 3ds xl battery spins like a fidget spinner so I’m definitely replacing it. The old one does spin but it’s definitely not a fidget spinner. The old battery looks flat but honestly the new one also looks pretty flat yet still spins. I also don’t know how the old one (from 2012 or so) wouldn’t be bloated yet the new one from like 2017 is.

If it is not flat, if it expanded then it is bloated

This might be a lengthy post, but I'm trying to help a friend in need. If you find your eyes glazing over from the wall of text, please try checking the TL;DR at the bottom. I have not touched my 3DS'es since the Switch was released.

I recently sent him my hacked N3DSXL. I just assumed it was running a emunand setup, but when he went to settings it displays Sys 11.6.0-39E. Then I started to remember that there was some new hack at the time, which supposedly was unpatchable by Nintendo. I remember using a magnet and some trickery (Magnethax?) to set it up back in the day. But I don't remember what hack it might be. Names likes bootstrap and a9lh comes to mind.

I know it's running some version of Luma. And I remember it had a "LumaUpdater" app it.

First things first:
Is there a way to check "what" has actually been done to the N3DS? What I'm really curious about is, is it safe for him to do a 3DS software update? And can he just use the LumaUpdater app to update Luma before, or after updating the firmware? I remember opening the app before shipping the N3DS his way, and I think it came with a warning saying it should only be used by Luma users of a certain type.

This would have much easier if I could just pick up the N3DS and fiddle with it myself. But it is about 3,469 miles away.

Is there any way for him to make a backup of however the system is right at this moment? Just in case we mess something up while trying to get the N3DS up to speed. I vaguely remember having to save some "keys" or something, but I'd be surprised if I managed to dig them up anywhere.

Lets assume we get all the information needed and get his system up to date:
He is a huge PkMn fan, and have been playing the pre-installed games like there was no tomorrow. He just asked me if there was a way to clone PkMn. I vaguely remember using the FakePokebank app, and JKSV to "clone" PkMn. But I think he wants to move the PkMn into Moon. And as far as I could gather, FakePokebank only supported OR/AS and XY. Then PKhex came to mind. Sadly, I don't think PKhex is installed on the console. But I guess that should be an easy enough task.

Are there any go-to apps to look into for cloning PkMn? Perhaps ones that even support Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon which he also wants to play. Those games are not installed either, but I'm sure I'll manage to guide him passed that hurdle. I've installed enough CIA's to kinda remember the steps.

tl;dr
  • How can I figure out "what" has been done to the N3DS? I guess this would be nice to know before proceeding.
  • Can we somehow save whatever state the N3DS is currently in, in case we mess something up?
  • Can he just click "Update" on the update nag popup? Does he update Luma (from the updater app, or manually) before, or after updating the system firmware? Current firmware: Sys 11.6.0-39E
  • What is the easiest tool to use if he wants to clone PkMn? Preferably one that supports Ultra Sun and Moon.

Thanks for bearing with me. And any links and pointers in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. I know how happy receiving this N3DS made him, and I'd like for him to get as much joy out of it as humanly possible.

Hey, I’m having an issue with my 3DS and I’m not sure if this is the right place to ask, but I could really use some help. I’m using Luma3DS and FBI to install CIAs, but every time I select a CIA file in FBI, my 3DS shows an error screen or freezes, and it generates a crash dump file on my SD card (like crash_dump_00000000.dmp). I’ve tried updating Luma3DS and Boot9strap, but the problem is still there. Has anyone had this happen? Any tips or advice? I’d really appreciate any help. Thanks in advance!

You can install cias with godmode9.

Yes, I'm sorry if you didn't understand what I was referring to, it's that when I open the FBI and try to install the CIAs, the error occurs as soon as I select them without even pressing a button I don't know what to do to fix it, I asked chat gpt to help me but it told me to install text reading programs or something like that but currently the only PC I have available has Windows 8 and it doesn't allow me to do many things for what I was looking for help

I'm thinking of getting a Japanese 3DS off of ebay because I heard they're usually cheaper than the NA ones and can be modded to play in english. Is that true? is installing CFW on a Japanese one relatively the same?

You can do a region change.

The process is identical, just follow the guide and you can't really go wrong. Yes, you can play English games, in English, just fine using Luma's region patching / emulation. If you must have the 3DS's menu, options, etc. in English, you can perform a region change, though doing so might come with a headache or two later down the line. Consult the guide as well on how to perform a region change, it should be relatively straightforward. Personally, the little bit of Japanese I am exposed to on a Japanese 3DS isn't really worth doing a region change over. But, you do have that option.

Last time anyone asked about the .cx files within Pokemon Rumble Blast was in 2015, which was left as a dead end. Would anyone now have any idea how to decompress or decrypt these or whatever needs to happen for them to become regular .arc and .bcres files again?

Is the new 3DS worth it over older models? I only know of the new models running sun and moon better but do you get better FPS for oot/mm and most of the popular titles?

it was more or less for games that needed that extra boost and have consistently noticeable lag, oot/mm's framerate cannot be pushed past what it is without breaking because of the way it's programmed it was this was on the N64 version as well, it's why the 60fps code is not recommended for either.

if you were to overclock it with a modded new model it will make the load times faster and that's about the most you can get out of that.

while alot of games that needed that boost do get it on the newer model, you'll still see some hiccups here and there but it's not as often as the old model.
