Hello guys! Im trying to mod this version from the kernel to translate all english texts to brazilian portuguese. But im having some issues, after build.bat how can i generate a new update file?

Hi there, everytime I navigate through my games using left and right with thumbnails activated the whole thing freezes randomly to me, I have tried to replicate it with the original kernel and the issue seems exclusive to this, how may I fix it? Could it be because of the different way in which thumbnails are toggled compared to the original?

Checked this post?

SimpleDE Update v1.4:
- Merge recent changes with K1.04 that fix addon support for Goodboy Galaxy and update FAT32 Filesystem driver.
- Original Omega users do not need to upgrade.

ALSO YOU MUST USE THE OFFICIAL KERNEL TO UPDATE THE FIRMWARE;

Firmware should be independent from the kernel. You would need to install the official kernel to update to firmware v6, then reinstall simple light.

Note that FW6 is only available for Rev.B of the EZODE, Rev. A stays on FW5.

I tried updating simplede but I still can't play Racing Gears Advance. On the official firmware I can, but not on this firmware. Any reason why? Thanks!

Now I'm facing another problem. I couldn't get Densetsu no Starfy 3 to run on my EZ-FLASH ODE at all. If I let the intro run to a certain point or skip the intro (either way fades to black), the game hardlocks, no buttons will respond, and requires a shutdown. What should I do?

EZODE Firmware: 6
EZODE Kernel: 1.04
CFW used: ColorSplashDE v1.1 by Jayro

EDIT: I was using the ROM extracted from the Wii U Virtual Console version, which was the culprit. I tried a regular V1.1 ROM of Densetsu no Starfy 3 and it works like a charm with no issues so far.

I've been using Simple (Non-DE Ver.) on my GBA, and I've seen a lot of improvements. I've noticed that this EZ Flash Omega screen shows up for less than a second on startup. I was wondering if there's any way to disable this/stop this from happening since it bothers me. It happens on both the dark and light versions of the kernels, I tried swapping them to see if it was just an issue with the dark kernel, but nothing seems to change.

The splashscreen is part of the kernel. As you can see, you can find it here as "SPLASH.PNG"

https://github.com/Sterophonick/SimpleLight/tree/master/source/images

So, in order to replace it, you would need to compile the kernel, with the picture replaced.

Interesting. If you don't mind me asking, what would be the easiest way to blank it out? Could I make it a fully transparent PNG? How would I go about replacing it before compiling it?

Also, I've seen that many people are having issues with compiling, should I be worried about that?

I don't really know anything about compiling, so I can't help with that, bit I assume replacing it with a black image would be enough.

Alright, I somehow managed to nuke the splash.h file so it's fully white on bootup after almost 2 hours.

However, one new thing that I noticed while messing around is that the UI seems to shift up a few pixels randomly on startup. I can't tell if this is an issue with my IPS or something with the kernel, but suspicions lead me to believe it's the latter.

Before I decided to try out Simple I used this custom kernel by @veikkos, which strangely never had this issue. I don't know if this is related in any way, but while looking at a backup of my EZ-FLASH SD card before I updated to Simple, I noticed that there was a "1.09 offset.txt" file on the root. I don't know if this is exactly what allows it not to have this issue. I'll try to upload it if possible, but I don't exactly know if it's related to this.

Anyways, I think I'm going to call it a night. I'd be interested if anyone could tell me why this happens since I find it odd.

You'd probably have more luck if you comment out line 1941 from ezkernel.c
The 1.09 offsets file is also not relevant with Simple.

Interesting, I'll try to give this a shot.

EDIT: I commented it out as you suggested, but nothing seemed to change after doing a recompile, did I forget a step? I also tried just straight up deleting the line, still nothing...

Check if you have a proper dump with the checksums at https://datomatic.no-intro.org/, or just dump your cartridge again and see if it works that way. I've had no issues with that game.

New firmware 7 for ODE rev. B from EZFLASH!
Someone named alphaking on FPGAming Discord said that "After update, Rev. B users will be able to use Mode B with Analogue Pocket". Pretty big deal!

From changelog:
Added support for S98 chips with 020 suffixes.

has anyone added simple to this new fw update?
all an update would do here is change a number since i don't have the ROM space to include the FPGA firmware in SimpleDE. it's a load of crap, i know. but i'll get that out and swapped here when i get a chance
Post automatically merged:

Update v1.5 (Definitive Edition ONLY):
- Reworked internal logic for detecting FW updates. Still cannot update from Simple. The kernel still instructs you to update with the official kernel.

Simple will tell you to update if your cartridge is:
- Rev A (LX9): Below firmware 5
- Rev B (LX16): Below firmware 7

Original Omega users do not need to update.

Lemme know if your cartridge erroneously is/isn't telling you to update, because I do not have a Rev B cartridge. This new logic does not write to the FPGA so there's no risk of bricking.
