Many "fan" projects would get zero attention if it weren't for the fact that they use copyrighted characters. Just look at channels like TFS, where they only get noticed when they make anything related to DBZ, meaning that their writing skillz are worthless when they make their own original IP.

As such, companies are 100% in the right to obliterate anyone who uses their IP to make money. "Fair use" my ass. No one would've ever known who you were if it weren't for MY characters used in YOUR attempt to make money.

Agree. Same goes for all artists that make money and fame only with fanarts of popular franchises and they have the nerve to threaten you for crap like "using their art without their permission" while at the same time they cry when the companies take down these fanarts.

Thank gosh someone finally said it. I believe it's one of the best sources of energy out there, better than solar (media doesn't tell you that it damages the environment, we extract so much minerals to produce them) the only reason we don't use them much nowadays is due to society's fear of another Chernobyl accident, but that's due to many factors caused by us humans and politicians wanting to use cheaper materials to save cost (since it was during the cold war as well) which ultimately led to its demise.

1) Yeah, mostly this.
2) Fair use is not by any means an excuse for copyright infringement. How is drawing some character from a franchise that wasn't created said artist a violation? Seriously, I don't think its always justified for companies like Sony, Nintendo, and ESPECIALLY DISNEY to do such stuff. Plus, how is it crying to criticize a C&D from those mega-corporations!?

How would you know that such people are all actually crying, anyway!? I myself am not much of a visual artist, but still, why should permission be asked for the drawing to be considered valid? Yeah, the fans are always wrong for not kissing up to whatever shitty business decision like copyright BS stunts and general abuse of corporate power. In addition, writing skills =/= drawing skills. Art theft is real yes, but how and why should it be completely OK for companies to sue and drop a C&D at you if you draw, paint, make music, or develop a game that uses movie or video game characters or even assets that you are not the original creator of, unless they ask permission from the CEOs or Publishers, to draw or use said assets!? Yeah, sure thing, blind brand-loyalist consoomer.

I'm not sure if I've said this before, but Dominos Pizza is my favourite pizza, hands-down - why? Because the variety of toppings and sauces is great, they cook it reasonably quickly, and it's delicious as well.

I agree. As much as I would like to support local places, Dominios is literally 1/3rd the cost, and is just as good.

Just make sure to always get it cooked "well done".
