Is that democracy? Yes or no.

Pure democracy? No, it's not and isn't supposed to be.

You shouldn't have to be told this. The USA is a democratic Republic. Small d, capital R. In federal elections, indirect democracy is the method of governance. We vote for who we want our party electors to vote for, and we vote for Congressional representatives who we want doing the actual voting on legislation. Individual citizens don't vote directly for anything at the Federal level. Never have. We mostly employ direct democracy for state and local elections, but not Federal.

Certainly, you know this. There is no "our democracy." That's fake news.

The user initially asked this was asked because they went on an unhinged rant about Democrats taking democracy away.

Your choosing to side step the yes or no answer is also telling.

I edited because I realized you'd probably say that. And again, the answer is (a qualified) no. It's not a democracy in the way Democrats want, i.e. mob rule, and the Democrat "Our Democracy" canard is disinformation for the ignorant masses.

Just because you know people doesn't mean that you agree with them on everything. Does every Democrat believe and support the pro-Hamas protesters who are destroying property and burning US flags?
If Harris picked someone from Hamas leadership as her VP, she'd be guaranteed to lose the election, and rightfully so. The Trump-Vance ticket deserves to drown in the extremist sewer that is Project 2025.

If that was true, it would have been reflected in the primaries. Biden and Trump received the most votes and are therefore the rightful nominees for president.
The 2023 primaries were just for show, neither party allowed more than one challenger to their presumptive nominee. Things would've been different for the Democratic party in hindsight, but Biden's decline hadn't become obvious enough yet. Republicans had already become too cult-like to nominate someone other than Trump, but multiple younger white men would've caused a split in support.

The question is, why did the Democrat elite force Biden, who is the most popular president in history with 81 million votes, out of the race?
Again, without the support of the voters, they would not have been able to get him to drop out. It was ultimately his choice, and ultimately the internal party polling that put the most pressure on him. Harris shattered the previous record for 24-hour campaign funding, from both big donors and individual voters, by more than double. Republicans like you obviously aren't happy that the Democratic party didn't have to go through several weeks of disarray before finding a new candidate, but that just makes Dems all the more united in their support for her.

ultimately the internal party polling
Internal by ONE company, Emerson, which I sure as hell hope has a track record for accuracy because if they don't...

Trump received more electoral votes than Clinton. That's how it works. Your question is a moot point.
Ah yes, the electoral votes where desert states with marginal constituencies somehow matter more than densely populated ones. Or in other words, where some votes matter more than others.

funny little ol' world how the word "democracy" can be abused thanks to ridiculous electoral laws, innit. Just like "FPTP for dummies".

He's still sharper than TRump mind you. He might get names mixed up, but his NATO speech was briliant, with no teleprompter. AND he doesn't think Hannibal Lecter is a real guy to admire.

I don't think it was just one, even I received text polls from multiple sources asking whether or not Biden should drop out and who should replace him if he does, and I'm a registered independent. Regardless, when that number started breaking 50%, they were right to take it very seriously. The Democratic party has the edge in every election, so long as it can unite its voters and inspire a large turnout. Biden risked failing on both counts.

Even if the Electoral College was to go away, there is still the Senate. So you don't have to worry about mob rule. In fact, minority rule is the problem right now.
Ranked choice voting with no electoral college would be far more democratic than the system we have now. Republicans abhor that idea though, along with any idea that would make our elections more democratic. In any other context they'd be arguing that we're solely a republic, but they're on the back foot and reeling right now, grasping at straws.

On that note, Trump has announced he's wussing out of debating Harris. I'd say he's running away, but we all know he can barely even manage to shuffle away at his age and weight.

republicans ar **ssing themselves scared that they are bein shown up by a woman let alone a former DA who will thanos snap the chaos hopefully away even now it's neck and neck but i think harris (with E day being 90+ days away) will be slowly widening the gap as you can tell she's not slipping up her wording unlike biden she's being very coucious on not giving the GOP much if any ammo against her which is why the racist attacks are still present, all that will accomplish is pissed off minority who may come out in droves and vote for her

Who voted for her? you guys talk about dictators all the time, so I would expect you to be pissed that your overlords instilled her without asking anyone in the US public whether they wanted her or not!

That's not the only thing. Vance is in subject to more ridicule, and not because of the couch thing, but of a post on social media he made. Supposedly he posted a screenshot picture of a dolphin trying to mate with a woman, and his post says "Maybe the internet was a mistake", with the picture captioned with "Woman gets violated by a dolphin and enjoys it."

Except, the words "woman" and "dolphin" in the caption were highlighted, meaning the screenshot was taken with a search for those exact terms.

One of you posted a source from an unreliable alt right website.

The article you posted didn't even back your claim and this was explained to you.

You're being called bigots and Nazis because you support candidate whit a history of racism and paraphrasing Hitler. Not you specifically but others are crying about DEI which is just the new racist dog whistle.

And you continue to tell us to look it up ourselves 😂

Simple yes or no question for you since your so fixed on democracy and Harris stealing the votes or whatever.

Should Hillary have been president due to receiving more votes than Trump?

A non response to the question will also be telling.
How many latinos and black people have to tell you that they know him personally, and that there's not a racist bone in his body, for you to get it through your thick skull that he's not a racist? One of the most racist (against whites) people there is, Al Sharpton, has personally given Trump awards for his contributions to the black community. Al never said a mean thing about him, until he ran for POTUS. Biden on the other hand, has a history of very publically being racist. Everything he does and says now, is/was to stay in office and win the election. He said point blank, on TV, that he didn't make a choice yet, but he knew it would be a Black Woman. Please explain to me what you think a DEI hire is, if this is not a DEI hire. He chose her to get votes. Period.

And no, more votes shouldn't mean a win. Take yourself a civics course and learn why the electoral college was established, and what it does. Without it, a national vote would be pointless, because the outcome of all elections could be decided solely by California, Illinois, and New York. Fuck the other 47 states, right?

Guy is a total weirdo and cringelord, and I don't think Trump would've picked him as VP if not for the fact that it demonstrates his subservience to Peter Thiel. Strategically it was the worst possible choice, the more people learn about him the more they dislike him, and Vance is gonna get torn to shreds by whoever Harris picks to be her running mate.

Spoken like a true maxi pad over ear wearing cultist.

Trump has made numerous racist and bigoted remarks over the last decade. This isn't up for debate, there's tons of footage of this with full context.

Now if you don't believe the things he said were racist or bigoted that just speaks to your character.

Absolute nonsense. A bunch of single digit tooth rural slack jaws having more voting power due to the EC and Senate are how millions of citizens lost reproductive rights. I'd wager that's a situation you'll never have to concern yourself with though.

Yeah, the election was rigged in favor of Trump.

Lock him up, lock him up.

She was VP during the 2020 election, was Biden's running mate when he was selected at start primaries and caucuses. It's expected that a VP takes over if the president stands down.

However, technically anyone can actually be selected: https://www.usa.gov/national-conventions

To become the presidential nominee, a candidate typically has to win a majority of delegates. This usually happens through the party's state primaries and caucuses.

America already has mob rule. Look at how Trump stuffed the supreme court and managed to destroy several freedoms and protection already. Utter corruption.
