Sony announces launch date for the upcoming live action Street Fighter movie

Street Fighter will be hitting the silver screen, as Sony has confirmed that a live action movie adaptation of the video game will be released in 2026. The project has been in the works since 2023, but has suffered setbacks, which included the film's two directors departing from the production. Sony and Capcom are co-producing the movie, together with movie studio Legendary Pictures. Street Fighter is no newcomer to live action films, with 1994's Street Fighter, which despite its negative reception, was a box office success. Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li was a 2009 film that served as a prequel to Street Fighter IV, but was critically lambasted. The new Street Fighter movie will hit theaters on March 20, 2026.

Uncharted was a pretty shitty movie so I guess they're trying their luck with SF. Don't mess that up, too.

Should I be hyped?
I don't know if it's just me but i really don't know a damn thing about this new movie

(and I'm kinda lazy to go search for it)

most of the time it's both a quick buck and Hollywood just out of ideas.
Also, just the new generation needs to be exposed to what their parents enjoyed. In 15 years, when everyone has forgotten about this movie, there will be a “new” one. Should be another Mario movie in about 15 years now. Mark my words!

Make's sense, Capcom apparently makes a bunch of money off of the rights of the old live action movie because it became a cult classic.

Who cares? What's with the obsession to make movies from games? And live action no less. Great, better spend the budget on high profile actors, and stupid looking CG instead of even a half baked storyline.
Anyway, Street Fighter II Animated Movie is the only movie in the francise worth watching imho
