I don't understand the question. There are only 2 possibilities; either the exploit is triggered before the system is on (coldboot) or after the system is on (warmboot).

I believe what he means, from the snip you quoted, is an untethered payload boot. Currently you need to use a dongle/android/pc/mac to boot the switch into CFW. Whereas the alternative would be to modify the boot code on the switch to load CFW without needing an external payload injector.

Maybe a dumb question, but have you installed the TegraRcm driver? It took me a while to figure out that this was the cause for me. To install: Open TegraRcmGui > Settings > Install driver.
