They could have added new cards without breaking the hex id. There were about a few dozens of unused Magnus.

I might be doing it wrong. I set the button combo as ZR+ZL and nothing happens. Maybe I'm not at the right screen.
Yes. For card id I'm using 027D (Sacred Wine in GC version). And for the spirit numbers, 1 in upper left, 2 in upper right, 3 in bottom left and 4 in bottom right.
Maybe I'm not using the same screen as Gamerjin, or maybe language matters. I'm playing in Spanish.
if you should see the numbers changing at the very least. i will go back and test them, but i did a copy and paste from my file.
update: they are working for me, although in my case, 027D is "Sacred Water".
ok, try this then:
goto the card you want to edit
move the right stick to get the sorting dropdown
do your button combo (ZL+ZR)
then press B
now the card in the upper part will not change but the card on the bottom should now be different.
update2: i dont know if the changes are permanent, but do use caution while in the collection of magnus screen, as the pointer will change to whichever magnus you are on.
oh, and in case you were gonna to try and change the magnus into one of the Spirit Guardian's Attacks: dont.

I'm not getting any results. So I'm going to ask for the step by step for dummies. Please tell me where I'm wrong.
First I copied the codes into the file and changed the Xs by the intended values.
Then I went into Breeze to set up a button combo. I've tried to put the combo button in all of the following:
- Pointer setup + card id + all spirit numbers
- Card Id + all spirit numbers
- Pointer setup only
I'm trying to use the codes while inside the deck building screen, as it is the only one that allows for the sorting dropdown.
When I repeat the steps while on the left side (any character's deck) nothing happens. When I repeat the steps while on the right side (the characters available card pool) nothing happens.
I'm sure I must be doing something that I shouldn't do, or that I'm missing something.
ok, er...wow. you dont need a key combo on the pointer setup, you can leave that on.
perhaps giving total customization was a mistake, based on what you posted last, this one will do what you want:
i created and tested this one on my switch. so at min, you would leave on the Magnus Pointer setup code and this one.

no, this works by overwriting an existing magnus. so it wont work on a blank magnus. but it can allow to edit magnus in either the character's deck or the building pool. depending on if you use edizon or breeze, they can fill in the button combo for you.

I made sure that I have rotten food at the bottom so that I don't lose any useful card.
The pointer setup code and the new code are on.
Maybe it's due to the update version. I'm still at 1.0.1 and you might have gotten the latest update available.
ok..............well last resort. (and no, im on v1.0.1, same as you)
turn off the card code, but leave setup on.
remove any key combos.
go to the magnus, once you have the magnus you want to edit. press home
go to breeze, and turn on and off the card code.
then check. if this doesnt work, i really dont what the problem could be, because this works for me every time.
