I don't know how to do the part of Bink 2 encoder. When I go to the github, there is no tag to download :S

I want to do a spanish version.

EDIT: I followed all the steps and I Switch shows a black screen (I'm not in applet mode).

EDIT 2: Now it crashes after the initial credits (no logo). Yeah, I put the .rmv movies

You need to follow the repo instructions, for Switch:
https://github.com/ZenoArrows/The-Simpsons-Hit-and-Run/releases
1) Download latest of this:
1697511089380.png

2) Get a legally obtained copy of the PC version of the game. Install or extract on a folder.

3) Extract one of the zip file on to the PC version folder and reeplace all files.

4) get Bink encoder from https://github.com/marcussacana/Bink2 and extract the file "Bink2ForUnreal.exe" on the "movies" folder of the game folder.

5) Execute the "convert.bat" file on that folder

Since version 0.5 of the NRO you don't need to convert the video files, if you did on the past, copy the original ones to you Switch SD card before update to a recent version of the NRO.

6) Copy the game folder to your console on path SDMC:\switch\Simpsons\ (you should end with this files on the card: https://gbatemp.net/threads/the-simpsons-hit-run.640800/post-10272298)

For multi-language copy the mod files onto your game folder before run convert.bat.

I did that and it still crashes after initial credits (no logo)

There's no need to use mod files, there were official spanish, german and french PC releases. I've tested it with the spanish version and that worked fine. Simply install the language version of your choice, then use those game files as the assets for the switch port.

You're running hbmenu in applet mode, run it by overriding a game instead.

I have a PSTV hooked up to my second monitor now, which is very convenient for development. Once I've addressed the crashes in level 4 I'll be continuing work on the Vita port.
I was thinking of porting a game to Vita (have no experience) and was wondering if you could give me a tutorial on decompling and porting a game to Vita?

I downloaded the game from Pivigames, with a patch so that it works without errors. Then I downloaded Bink2 and unzipped it in the movies folder and clicked on convert.bat. that's all, then I deleted the converter files from the folder and that's it.
I also used the NSP and it works the same as in the PAL version.

guys, there is no "NSP version" there are some Forwarders, but the forwarders are no the game, you need to copy the homebrew and the resource files on the console and then install the forwarder just to have a link on the main page of HOS.

This is not a decompile project, so no help there unfortunately. Also I'm currently focusing on this port, so don't really have the time to write tutorials on that.

Only advice I have is to port the source code to SDL, OpenGL and OpenAL while still compiling for PC. That way you can port the code in steps so you can continously test and you'll be targetting APIs that are very widely supported across platforms and homebrew SDKs. Once that is done you can focus the actual porting process, where debugging is most painful, on just the differences between that platform and the PC.
