Nintendo Switch firmware 16.0.2 released, Atmosphere 1.5.2 update available which adds USB file transfer

banner.png

With every new Nintendo Switch firmware comes the promise of greater stability and enhanced user experience than one could ever imagine. That's the case with the latest update for the Switch, bringing it to OFW 16.0.2, released today. SciresM quickly wheeled out a new version of Atmosphere CFW to match it, but this update features something more interesting than just stability to match Nintendo's. Atmosphere 1.5.2 adds in a new homebrew called Haze, which lets you perform USB file transfer, giving you access to your console's SD card on your computer without ever having to remove it. You can grab the latest version on GitHub, linked here.

I've been using the NX-USB Loader. It's amazing. Works great with Awoo Installer, and as long as you aren't trying to queue up a dozen games, it works every time with no failures. Just another option for Windows users.

No, but boot directly on ofw, i cant acess hekate or atmosphere, and i updated both before perform update
Hekate is independent of hos and atm once able to boot will always be able to boot. You messed up your sd card

This update seems to be really minor, I suspect atm don’t need to be updated to support 16.0.2 and nothing should be broken because of it. 16 did create lots of pain for many people though and they might still be suffering for nothing

I use to Haze to copy the new firmware on the SD card,, but when I try to update it with daybreak I got an error saying there were missing some file in the update directory
I try to copy the firmware sing dbi and I did not have that error saying i was missing some file
So it seem I had some issue transferinf files using the new tool but dbi work without any error

Am I the only one who got this problem using the new tool Haze ?

Everything had been working fine with FW14.1 and Atmos 1.4.
I updated Atmosphere to current 1.5.2 (deleted "atmosphere" and "switch" folders, then copied new version to the micro SD using a card reader).
It booted and I updated the system FW to 16.0.1. But after rebooting, I can't launch (from hekate) the CFW-emuMMC.
An error says
======================
Unknown pkg1 version.
HOS version not supported!
Or emuMMC corrupt!
Trying backup bootloader...
Found pkg1 ('20230111100014').

Unknow pkg1 version.
HOS version not supported!
Or emuMMC corrupt!

Failed to launch HOS!

Press any key...
=======================
Pressing a key takes me back to the hekate 6.0.1 screen
I can boot sysMMC and stock sysMMC, but that shows OFW14.1 and no Atmosphere

How do I update/change the HOS (whatever that is) so it will boot into the emuMMC partition if that is the issue? Other ideas?

I haven't updated my switch for probably 12 months or so.

Can someone direct me or confirm below is what I need to do?

1) update Firmware to 16.0.2
2) download atmosphere files and add to SD card
3) sigpatches and overwrite old files.
4) launch and ready to go?

Only reason I ask is to get ready for Zelda in a few weeks time..

Which homebrew apps specifically doesn't work for you?
As long as the atmosphere, payload, and sig are updated, you shouldn't have any issue running games.
he doesnt update for 1 year maybe better wait on couple weeks it would better haha

HOS is the official OS for switch.
Try to update hekate to 6.0.3, I think your Version dont support HOS 16.0.2

Edit:
The way I update is:
1. Update HOS to 16.0.2 (stock OS)
2. Dump update 16.0.2 using latest TegraExplorer
3. Take out SD-card. Copy latest Atmosphere, Hekate and sigpatches to it. I just owerwrite insted of deleting folders.
4. Update emuMMC using Daybreak

Basically I follow this guide for updating:
https://nh-server.github.io/switch-guide/extras/updating/

Thank you!!! Might have been sigpatches or hekate, but updating them solved the problem. Now I can inject and get it running again. Will probably go to HOM 16.0.2 soon, but running fine on 16.0.1 that I installed.

I've only ever used Darthsternie's firmware files, both for Switch and PS4, but seeing as his website is not updated with firmware 16.0.2 yet, is THZoria a viable alternative? Is it as safe as Darthsternie's?
You can dump it yourself from sysnand or use wireless sync with a friend who has it but remember you are still not stable enough until you get 16.0.3

Who knows, I might even wait for 16.0.4, just for that extra stability boost over 16.0.3. :P

That's good to know. I've never had problems with Darthsternie's software, so I might just wait it out anyways, just in case. :)

isn't this proccess be done while you're offline?
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
We are not Nintendo, so we don't know exactly how/why/when they ban, but better to stay on the safe side and not do shady stuff, if you don't want to be banned. Hayato is one of the most knowledgeable ones here on the subject and I believe what he says.

@BigOnYa, Yes ofc we don't know how Nintendo bans work, but if there are situations where a lot of people have tried safely then we can at least assume that this path is pretty much safe. To say don't try anything homebrew relative just to be safe forever is the easiest thing to say to someone. What I am trying to figure out here is with which cases and what actions got most of the people their bans for.
